While this little peek was in the carrier on our front porch a storm came up. He had been yapping since he went in and all of a sudden things got quiet. About 5 minutes later Mom went to check on him and that little stinker had gotten out and gone! Jeeeezzzz... It's pouring rain and Mom starts walking the neighborhood looking for him. She's determined this little guy is not gonna live in the elements one more day. After about 20 minutes, soaked to the bone, she couldn't find him. Mom was so distraught. A little while later she looked out and THERE HE WAS! About 2 doors down heading in the opposite direction of our house. She grabbed a blanket and RUN down the street to get him! Yep, she got him! He seems like such a gentle little soul. She brought him back and took him to the shelter. It was very emotional for Mom. He is in worse shape than she originally thought. She filled out the paperwork, paid the surrender fee and left a donation and left in tears. At this point we don't know the fate of this little fella and they won't give us any information after surrendering, but we know in our hearts that whatever it is, his life has to be better than it was.
We had terrible storms last night here in Nashville and Tennessee, thunder, heavy rain & winds, hail and even tornadoes! All Mom could think about was our little furiend was not gonna have to try to survive it. He's warm, his belly is full and hopefully someone is giving him some love that he's never known.
Also, our councilman called Mom back Monday morning after she emailed him Sunday. He told Mom he would call animal control and try to get them out here. Well, it worked! They showed up that afternoon and talked to Mom and rode the neighborhood for a short time but no dogs came out. Isn't that usually how it goes? That dummy told Mom to call when they show back up! HAH! Mom said they'd be gone by the time you get out here! He did mention to mom about traps... She's thinking about that. There is one stray running that really needs to be caught. She is in season NOW and we're sure she is already carrying babies. Mom has seen the attention she has gotten... So if nothing else we really do need to get her some help.
I want to thank all our furiends that have read this and sent their well wishes for our poor little furiend. Dogster is truly an amazing community. And right now that little fella needs all the prayers he can get.
