Mom witnessed another vicious dog attack yesterday... This is the 2nd one since June 07. But this one was much worse. I will spare the horrible details but these pups are attacking each other. Our neighborhood has a huge stray problem. We don't live in the best of neighborhoods so it's very hard to get help and our animal control really leaves a lot to be desired. We do not have "Animal Cops" here in Nashville.
During all the chaos yesterday and me trying to get Mom calmed down - I thought she was gonna have a heart attack - another doggie problem arose. There has been this little Pikinese we've seen off an on for a while now. This little dog. He looked to be in terrible shape. Yesterday, we let Mom know something was on the other side of our privacy fence and Mom peeked thru and saw this little fella tangled in some briars in the neighbors yard. She went over there and he got free and wouldn't let Mom near him. This is when she realized this little guy is blind and more than likely deaf. He just wanders around with no place to go and acts like he just don't have a clue of where he is. Mom made the decision she had to catch him. She goes to the attic and brings down a travel carrier that I've never seen before! She dusts it off and goes looking for our little furiend to no avail. We all kept an eye out last night but didn't see him. Well, this morning Mom is all ready for work except putting on her clothes and looks out and there he is in the road! Viola! She runs in and puts on some sweats, grabs some treats and the pet carrier and she runs out the door. He was halfway down the street by then. Mom got to him after putting down the carrier too far away but fed him a few treats and petted him and he let her pick him up! YAYYYYYYY!!! She got back up the street to the carrier and in he went! Now he is on my front porch yapping up a storm and not a happy camper. We have this wonderful rescue called Happy Tails Humane and Mom is gonna call them this morning when everything opens. She is sure they will not kill this little pup. Anywhere else will I think. He is in such horrible condition. His hair is so matted and he had lost the hair on his back. Dog only knows what medical problems he may have.
Anyway, Mom is feeling a little better after capturing this unhappy little fella. She wrote her councilman last night about the stray problem we are having and hopefully he can get us some help. She won't even take us on walkies around the neighborhood anymore, it's just not safe. Why oooooh why don't hoomans love their pets and take care of them? It's sooooo sad what we see here everyday and it's tearing my Mom's heart out.
To the hoomans: PAWLEEZ spay and neuter you pets! One unloved, unwanted, homeless pet is toooooo many!
