Arrival Story:
Dalton came to me from Akita Rescue in South San Francisco. I had recently returned from overseas and wanted another Akita (I had had to rehome two when I left the country). I met the rescue folks at a dog show and filled out an application. As we were talking about what I was looking for in a dog, they mentioned a rescue that they'd gotten in. He was too badly injured at that point to go anywhere, so I went to meet him at their home. At the time, they were calling him Winter Wizard, but we ultimately changed his name to Dalton. I would come to visit after work every Thursday and I would go down to the basement where Dalton was staying. He was very emaciated and depressed. He was also very fearful. I would sit and talk to him and pet him. He would sidle away, and I would sidle after him. After about 6 weeks, he was on his feet again, and he actually came up to meet me when I arrived. Two weeks later, he came home. He was a sweet, loving boy.
