Arrival Story:
Ricky was a Mother's Day gift from my daughter. When Ricky was just a few months old, I had knee replacement surgery. While home recovering, I fell in the kitchen and was knocked out. When I came to, I found this 2 1/2 lb puppy pulling on my sleeve and licking my face. From that time on, he became my little hero. When I went through cancer which included surgeries, chemotherapy, and radiation therapy, Ricky was always there to make me feel better. He always knew when I was sad or hurting and would put his little paw on my foot or shoulder if he was in our bed. Ricky went everywhere with us and loved to travel in the motorhome as did our younger 2 Chihuahuas. Ricky meant so much to us and it is still hard after almost 2 weeks to think that he will never be with us again. Ricky developed a collapsed trachea and although, he gave it a good fight and we were taking him to the vets every week, one day it became obvious that he was suffering and we had to humanely let him go. I stayed with him until the very end and believe me, that is truly painful but he never left my side and I couldn't leave his.

Ricky's best friend when he was a puppy was a stray kitten we named Lucy. We took care of her, got her spayed, shots etc. but she was killed by a neighbor's car when they were both 18 mos old. Ricky missed her so much that we had to get another chihuahua to fill the void.....which was Lucy Tu. When I had a total knee replacement, Ricky was only about 7 months old but he stayed close to me at all times and even got to visit me in the hospital several times which was a blessing as I missed him terribly.
