Locked out

Now that its spring in Australia, the sun comes up at about 5 am, and I find myself wide awake with nobody to play with. So a few days ago I decided to go on an adventure. I went to see what was happening at the side of the house where the gas bottles are kept and I dicovered that there is a gap between the gas bottles and the fence, and becasue of all the rain we've had lately, the ground was very soft. So I found a way to wriggle through the fence.
I went for a little walk around the neighbourhood and there was still nobody to play with because they were all still in bed. Then I went home to see if my breakfast had appeared, but I couldn't remember how to get back inside the backyard. Where did that gap in the fence go? I got a bit worried, but I found the front door, so I decided to let my humans know that I was at the door. I howled and howled for about an hour, but nobody came to let me in. Where were they? I was a bit scared that I was never going to see my humans again.
Then I noticed that there were people to play with next door. They appeared to be digging a hole. I like digging holes, so I went over to help them. Then Mum appeared. She wanted to take me for walkies but couldn't find me in the backyard. I was so pleased to see her!!

Splashing good fun

Its spring in Australia, and it really is very hot already. Phew, don't I know it? Its all I can do to lie around, panting, with my tongue hanging out.
But my humans have filled up a tray with water for me to play and splash around in, and it keeps me nice and cool.

Last year I had a plastic container filled with water to relax in, except I chewed it until it leaked. And when they bought me a new plastic container, I chewed it until it was no longer recognisable. So that's why they bought me a metal tray this time.

See the photo of me playing a game I like to call, "Splash all the water out of the tray, and make the biggest puddle possible". So much fun!

Trying to be brave

Last night my humans and I took a long road trip. I was in my usual seat at the very back of the car, behind all of the passenger seats, where I can look out of the rear window without being tempted to eat the seatbelts. It was dark outside and raining very hard. And nobody wants to play with me when we're in the car - what's with that? It started raining so hard that Dad had to turn on the wiper in the rear window where I was sitting. It was so scary having that swishy thing moving back and forth, and I just wanted to bite it. I didn't like it one bit, so I jumped over the passenger seats towards the front of the car, and I got stuck. Mum and Dad had to stop the car at the side of the road to help me get free. They might have been annoyed with me that they had to stop in the pouring rain because I was a bit scared of wipers, so I showed them my biggest puppy eyes, and then they let me sit in the front of the car with them. But there were more wipers in the front of the car, so that was still scary, but at least Mum and Dad were there to protect me.
Finally we got to where we were going, and I got out of the car, wagged my tale and showed everyone how brave I am. After all, I am a big dog now, its my 1st birthday today!!!
