Likes: Visiting the dog park! Walking to the people parks! A good belly rub!
Pet-Peeves: Seeing dogs when I'm on a leash, especially big dogs. Mom says I become "Cujo," and tells me "Settle!" Grrrr.
Favorite Toy: Squeaky canvas toy (now, just canvas toy); squeaky gingerbread man (now, just gingerbread man); squeaky stuffed bone (now, just stuffed bone)
Favorite Food: Anything I find on the sidewalk.
Favorite Walk: To Federal Hill Park to overlook downtown Baltimore ... nice and peaceful, til I see another dog ... then to the Inner Harbor to sniff out some ducks
Best Tricks: Stay ... I can stay for a really long time, even after everyone leaves the room! It's really hard, and I'm always exhausted after that trick.
Arrival Story: I was sitting in a cage in this place that had a lot of dogs for adoption, when this nice lady walked by. I was still a little drugged out from my surgery (I was "spayed," whatever that is), so all I could do was tip my tail at her. Well, that was all it took! Sucker. Next thing I know, I'm throwing up in her car on the way "home," meeting my cat brother who wasn't too happy with me (things haven't changed much ... Mom says he "tolerates" me), and shopping for doggie supplies at the nearest pet boutique where I met my good friend Strummer (I'm smart like that ... make friends with the dog whose parents own the pet boutique).

When picking me up from doggie daycare this afternoon, Mom was chatting with my staff while she was waiting for me to make my appearance. "You have the cutest, sweetest dog," they told her, "With the most ferocious play-growl we've ever heard."
Pups, about a week ago Mom was driving through the Inner Harbor here in good ol' Baltimore to work, when she saw a woman running down the road's median with a leash. About 100 yards ahead of Mom's car on the four-lane road (that's four lanes in each direction) was a black splotch running along.
"Oh my goodness," said Mom to no one in particular, "That pup is running right into downtown traffic at rush hour." Then Mom saw a man running full speed ahead with another leash. Drivers (including Mom) put on their blinkers and turned all cockeyed in the road, opening their doors and trying to coax the pup to come to them. The pup crossed the road into traffic coming off the highway and raced off toward the new steak restaurant that just opened up by one of the Inner Harbor hotels.
"I wish that steak place were open at 7:00 am," thought Mom. "Maybe a pedestrian coming toward the pup will be able to catch it before Pratt Street," (one block away, which would NOT have been a good street for a loose pup to try to survive). Mom drove off to work not knowing the outcome, but fairly certain that it couldn't have been good.
Well, today she was perusing petfinder.com as she does regularly in her neverending search for the perfect addition to our family (no worries, pups: both my great friend Jed and I believe that our family is the perfect size as-is), and lookie what she found! This is the pup! Safe and sound and in good hands! Phew. What a relief!
Because Mom's been impersonating a roof all week (and we all know roofs don't move much), I have not walked my fair share of walks. We won't even discuss the severe lack of running.
So today, pups, Mom and I woke up at about 7:30 (trust me, sadly, that's "late" in the Abby household during the school year). We ate breakfast, went outside to poop ... at least, one of us did ... and then hopped in the car!
What to my wondering eyes? Doggie Daycare? On a stay-at-home day? Party time! Excellent! (To quote my good friends *ahem* Wayne and Garth.)
When Mom came back to pick me up around 4 pm, my staff told her I'd been playing like crazy, instigating tons of run-and-chase games and wrestling like mad. And, I had mud all over my face!
What a great end to a somewhat quiet, lazy week!
Yours in cuteness, thinking it's much more fun to get the mud ON than it is to get it wiped off,
Abby
