Arrival Story: My daughter brought Sugar to me as a pitiful, matted, dirty puppy. My daughter reported the horrible conditions in which Sugar was living--it was a puppy mill. My daughter would have bought every dog there if she had had the money!! She was afraid to turn the man in to authorities since she had written him a check and he might find her. Mean Mr. Yarbrough did get turned in a couple of weeks later and 50 plus dogs were saved! Anyway, with a good bath, good meals and a lot of TLC, Sugar made a quick turn-around.
Bio: Sugar developed a limp when she was about 6 months old. I thought she had stepped on something and had a sore foot. It did not get any better so I took her to the vet. He said it was not her foot but her hip or her knee. Baby aspirin, glucosamine, rimalin did not help--her limp got worse and she began to get muscle wasting of her leg. I finally sprung for the X-ray and she had bilateral hip dysplasia! I did not spring for the bilateral hip replacements to be done out of state. The vet put her on Duralactin (a lactose product) and she has done amazingly well. (See my testimonial at www.duralactin.com/testimonitals_c anine.htm) She still has a limp (some days worse than others) but she can out-run and out-play any dog we have! She has even regained muscle in her leg. She doesn't know she has a thing wrong with her!
