Likes: Diesel loves cheese. He also loves his basketball, going for walks, car rides to the farm, and swimming in the pond.
Pet-Peeves: Despite Diesel's love of water, he dreads having a bath.
Favorite Toy: Diesel's favorite toy is his basketball, although he also likes all stuffies, sticks, and anything he can play tug/fetch with.
Favorite Food: Cheese!
Favorite Walk: Diesel LOVES to go for walks. He likes to walk around the neighborhood on his leash, but loves it even more when he can run and play at the farm off-leash.
Best Tricks: Diesel loves to sing! He is also a pretty good swimmer, and likes to play basketball and fetch.
Arrival Story: Diesel came to live with us on Easter morning, 2002. Diesel is his Dad's first official dog, and although neither set of our parents were thrilled when Diesel first came to live with us, Diesel is now a full-fledged member of the family. In fact, he is "Top Dog!" He got the name Diesel, because as a pup, like Dad's truck - he ran all day and stayed plugged in all night! Diesel loves to go on car rides, and he is especially fond of Sirens. In fact, Diesel would be an excellent Fire Department Mascot because whenever he hears the sirens, he imitates them - in his own way of course - by howling along with them! Diesel gets his pet supplies from Gina and Dillon at The Pet Connection in Macomb, and he receives excellent veterinary care from the staff of Summer Street Animal Clinic
Bio: Diesel's best gal pal is Aloha. Diesel and Aloha have had two litters of puppies together. (They are now both "fixed.") Boolynn, the runt from Diesel and Aloha's first litter, also lives with us. We are also fortunate enough to know the location of ALL of Diesel and Aloha's puppies, and we keep in touch with their new owners. Diesel and Aloha's granddog, Cash, also recently came to live with us. Cash is quite the handful for Grandma and Grandpa and his Aunt Boo and Buddy Jackson! On September 2nd, 2006, Dogster recognized Diesel as Dog of the Day!
Every summer, we end up having trouble with ants at our house. This year, we've managed to keep them OUT of our house, but OUTSIDE in our backyard - there are still quite a few of the little suckers.
They don't bother me, though. In fact, I am quite happy to help them hitch a ride...across the yard or even - through the sliding glass door and into our kitchen!
It is quite easy for me to find the ants outside. Their most favorite "bus stop" is the trio of bushes in the corner of our yard. This just happens to be my favorite place to go! I am really into brushing up against the bushes, and I like to lay in the shade under the little tree that also grows there. (It is a great spot to ambush unsuspecting squirrels who dart along the fence!)
So, once pick-up is made...or I get hungry! (BOL!) - I make my way back toward the house. The ants would have it made except they are black and I am all white. Thus, the ants are pretty easy to spot in my fur, and Mom is quick to notice the hitch hikers as they thumb a free ride into her house!
It has been furever since I barked last! So much has happened - where to begin?? It has been a very long winter for us, but spring is finally here. Mom knew spring was coming because, despite the cold weather, I started licking my feet like I do every spring. I managed not to lick a sore onto any of my appendages this year, but I did manage to stain my white fur. I am also starting to shed like you would not believe! For the spring - long thick white fur is definitely out! BOL! Mom has even been threatening to shave me, but I barely even sit still long enough for her to brush me - so we'll see who wins this battle! BOL!
She keeps telling me that unless I stop rubbing around in the bushes and being an "Ant Transporter" - I am gonna go to the groomers! You see, I have a tendency to rub around in the bushes in the backyard while looking for just the right spot to do my business, and in the process - I collect ants in my thick fur. Then, of course, I come into the house covered in the little black buggies. I am pretty sure this is where the term "Ants in Your Pants" comes from! BOL!
We've just gotten back from spending Memorial Day Weekend at the farm and our Uncle's house. I didn't even put up a chase when Mom and Dad arrived to pick us up yesterday. I was sure glad to get home. Can you believe the first thing Mom did when she got home was throw me in the tub?? Incredulous, I know! But, after we were all bathed, we enjoyed some DogZerts from the Schwann man. These little yummies were in honor of Boo's fourth woofday. They sure were good! Hope all my pals are having a great spring so far!
