A bet for our future

Visit http://liftedmagazine.com/fundraising.asp and start making a difference in the world today.

At some point during your time on the Internet, you are almost certain to have come across at least one email or IM which promises a certain picture will be revealed or someone will do some crazy stunt when a specific number of visitors are counted on a certain webpage. Most recently, we personally received emails which promised pictures of a girl taking off a piece of clothing every time the visitor counter knocked out another million viewers. After seeing this site get five million visitors in three days, we decided to make a similar bet...but instead of offering a promise to see some skin, we decided to use this opportunity to promise hope to people less fortunate than us.

Lifted Magazine is currently forming a non-profit foundation called Lifting Lives Foundation. This foundation will focus on the needs of youth in the foster care system of America and, in particular, those which will be turning 18 soon and simply "age out" of the system. In 2004, 22,700 teens aged out. This means they no longer received financial support, housing or any other assistance they may have received in the past. They are simply left on their own to learn how to adapt to a completely new environment. This may not be such a problem for some of those lucky enough to have had positive foster care experiences. But teens with mental and physical diabilities are much more the norm in foster programs and a natural transition into the "real world" on their own is virtually impossible. Estimates state that 30 percent of teens who age out of the foster care system end up on the streets with no job, no money and, most importantly, no hope .

We will donate one dollar for every new subscription to the free PDF version of Lifted Magazine and two dollars for each print subscription sold through this. Our hope is to collect $100,000 so that we can begin making a difference in the foster care system today.

Please subscribe to Lifted Magazine today, whether you chose the free pdf or a paid subscription to the print edition, and pass this webpage along to your friends and family. In doing so, you are not only helping others but also showing the world that it's not only promises of naked girls and people doing stupid things to themselves that can generate a sensation. Let's work together to see just how much hope can actually be spread while using the Internet.
