Company for Me

My mom's friend has a doggie. Her name is Tasha and she is a small doggie, a Jack Russell. She runs around A LOT. My girl Cassie and I babysit Tasha sometimes. I like her but she steals my food. Oh, well, I just let her have it because my mom will give me more later. Cassie likes to have a smaller dog to walk and play fetch with while I supervise. Also, Tasha fits in her bed. I prefer the floor...more room to stretch out.

It's starting to get warm again, grrr. I need my walks early or late after the sun goes down. So I pretty much lay around all day in the shady spot of the yard. I like to dig dig dig a cool spot in the dirt and park my furry behind right in it. Feels so good! Mom can brush me out, no problem.

Life is good when people love you.

Busy doggie?

Way back in September I won a prize! At the Humane Society walk-a-thon I won for Biggest Dog. I got a new blankie and a new leash and some treats...those didn't last long.
The new leash came on handy because on Christmas eve my other one broke. My dad was sooo mad because, well, I don't like to come when I'm called and I ran fast and far and it was cold and I was very hard to catch....what can I say, I like to explore. Santa brought me a new water dish that can be used when I go for walks because it can squish to fit in a pocket. I really need that in the summer. I get hot and thirsty very quickly.
I finally got a ride in the new truck. Woof! It was time to go get my shots. Usually my mom walks me to the vet but this time she walked my halfway and had dad and Cass meet us to drive us the rest of the way. She says it's too cold but I don't even notice. Wind chill? Whatever that is.
I'm still a great guard dog. So good that I had to go sleepover at the kennel so that my family could have people over for the Superbowl. That's something about a ball game...boring. Grrr, chasing balls is not for me. Now, chasing bunnies is a different story. On my walks I smell many bunnies and I see their little tracks but I haven't actually seen a bunny for a long time. Maybe they hear me coming! I just want to play.
Well, nap time for me. Woof you later.

Almost Here

Woof!
I love winter. I love snow. Pretty soon, mom says, it'll be here. Grrreat. Then I can run it in and dig in it and eat it and pull mom down into it. I can sleep in it too. This fur is perfect for that. I have to sleep overnight in the house though. I guess I bark a lot. Well, only when someone walks by but it is kinda loud. I am kinda big...I can't help it.

It's late and I'm dog tired , haha. Woof ya later.

Did you miss me?

Well, mom has been busy but she finally had time to help me with my diary.

My vacation was pretty nice. I made some new friends and discovered that I do not really like baths. I was still very well behaved and I am more than welcome to visit that kennel again. Just keep me out of the tub.

I had a big adventure. I scared the woof out of my mom though. We stayed out at the farm one night and I had to sleep in a kennel. That's OK when my family isn't around, but when I know they are just inside that house, well...I had to get out. So I did. I'll never tell how. I ran all over the place and then a nice man found me and chained me up. The next thing I know, I hear my mom calling and so I barked. She heard me and came running over to the place where I was. I was only next door! She was crying and saying something about 'getting hit by a car'. Woofever. I was totally fine except that I was covered in burrs. My punishment was having to sit still for several hours while mom picked them off. I didn't mean to scare her. There's a lot to explore out in the country!

Mom says next time she'll take me on my leash. Grrr.

Fun times at the dog park

Ever since I got a tick, we have stayed away from the trail. Now we go to the dog park more often. Woof! I love it. I have a lot of friends there. Hank is a Rhodesian Ridgeback and Karma and Wyck are Irish Wolfhounds. They are furry fun. I love to wrestle and play with dogs that are big, like me. Sometimes there are 20 friends to run around with. My mom brings a big jug of water and I'm really good at sharing it. Actually, I prefer the Wolfhounds water because it has lots of ice cubes in it! MMMM. Very refreshing.

My dad took some pictures of me playing but mom has to get then into the computer somehow first. Grrfff. Hurry up, mom.

Pretty soon there will be a vacation. Woof? It sounds interesting. Even better, pretty soon is my birthday!!!! I'll be 2 years old. My human sister is going to take me to the store to get a present. Woof, woof. I can't wait.

Bye for now.

I scared my mom yesterday

Well, even though she puts some smelly stuff on me every month, she found a tick on me. Right on my face, over my eye. She thought it was a spider so she kinda cut it off with scissors. When she saw what it really was she was very upset. I had to go to the vet and woof, that was not fun.
I guess the little buggers head was still stuck inside my head. I had to get a needle so I would be too tired to squirm. Then this new doctor, well, new to me, cut me a bit and got the yucky bits out. Then I got another needle and I woke right up. I really didn't like this whole experience. My mom stayed with me and it took me a really long time to get tired. I think I was pretty good. I only grrrrrowled at the doctor one time! Now I have a shaved eyebrow and I get pills. Mom hides them in peanut butter but I know they're there.
Well, at least I got to go for a truck ride.
Woof you later.

New friends

On my walk today I met a new friend. She is a mailcarrier. My mom thought a lot of these people would be afraid of me but this lady walked right up to me and asked if she could give me a cookie! My mom said "yes" and I took it really gently. I was so nice. I hope we see this lady again. I love meeting people. It kinda hurts my feelings when someone walks right by and doesn't pet me. I am really a friendly dog. I am told (constantly) that I have a sweet face. And I do.
Wait...bark bark bark.
Ok, someone was outside and it's late so I just had to send them away. Where was I?
Oh, my sweet face. Well, just look at my pictures.
My friend Buddy's dad told my mom where to find a nice clean pond. I can't wait. Mom doesn't have to work tomorrow so I think we're going to swim!!! I love water. I'll let you know how it went and if I meet any more new friends.
Woof.

First time entry

Bark, bark, bark,woof, woof.

To all you humans, "HI there, nice to see you but why are you walking past my house? I'm a nice dog but are you sure you should be here? I'm not going to stop yelling until you move on or my Mom tells me you're OK. What's that, ma? Oh, allright. I'll hush."

You know, I think some people get annoyed at me, but I have a very important job, here. I am the boss of this house, the other critters (cats mostly...they still don't want to play with me, I can't inderstand why) and all the surrounding grass. I am supposed to make sure my family is safe. If mom says you're OK, then I'll be a great friend to you. Just let me sniff you a bit and please, give me attention. I really love meeting new people and especially their dogs.

Once every week or so Mom and Dad and my human sister Cassie and I all pile in the truck and go to the park. I like it because I don't have to bark at anyone. It's like a vacation! There are all sorts of other doggies there for me to play with. Some people (and dogs) are afraid of me because I'm so big. Most people in my town have never seen a Great Pyrenees. I am very friendly and even more so when I'm out here. The worst thing about me is the slobber. Hey, I get hot! And thirsty. My mom has to bring my water and I'm very good about sharing it.

Today I went down the street to play with my best friend Max. He's a Siberian Husky. Holy beggin strips, he's got energy. We love to wrestle and act tough. It really tires me out. YAWN. Yup, time to lie down. Oh, wait, is that a person walking by....woof. Keep it moving....woof, I said....ahh, that's better. Now I can get some rest.

Good night.
Bark, bark, zzzzzz
