Thank you everyone for all the good wishes, bones, rosettes, etc. for my Ethel Marie. I miss her so much still. I miss her barking at her food and not letting the boys get by her. I miss her laying by the computer while I worked, I miss her "rolling" any dog she decided she didn't like (that was about all the dogs she ever met) LOL! I just miss my Ethel Marie.

A Tribute for Departed KPR Pugs

Hi It's Ethel Marie's Mom. I still miss my Ethel Marie so much and visit her grave each day. Our new rescue pug, Bella, is helping me heal, but no other dog will ever take Ethel Marie's place in my heart.

I made a Tribute Board to honor our departed KPR pugs. All of these dogs, whether they found their forever home before they left, or not, are waiting at the Bridge. This Board was on display at our May event in New Albany, IN. Unfortunately it is a work in progress. Each dog, when they go to the Bridge, will be added to the Board.

I have added a few pictures of the board on this page.

Hello Everyone: After coming to grips with the denial I have been in and much soul searching, I have decided to put my darling, Ethel Marie out of her pain and misery. She is falling constantly and the pills that the vet gave her have not helped her. She is in pain. I have made the very painful decision to send her to Rainbow Bridge. I have an appointment with her vet on Saturday, March 10 at 8:00 a.m. Central Time. Please remember me in your prayers. This is the hardest thing I have ever had to do and one of the hardest decisions I have had to make.

Thanks goodness it's warming up here!

Hi Everyone: It's finally starting to warm up here where I live!! It's in the 50s today and I enjoyed myself outside. My hips and legs continue to give me trouble. Mom took me to the vet last Saturday. He put me on some medicine called Zubion. It's very expensive, but Mom said she didn't care, as long as it helps me. Well, it hasn't seemed to help much at all. I still fall down a lot and have trouble getting up and Mom has to help me. I think that the vet tried to tell Mom that I am in pain but she's in denial. Mom said that he gave me a 40 day supply of pills and I'll take them all. By the time I finish up with them the weather will be much warmer and Mom said we woud have to have a talk with the vet if I'm not better by then. Mom will look at me with tears in her eyes at times thinnking I may be getting close to crossing Rainbow Bridge.

In other news, I still haven't got to see that little person called a grandson...I did see that Ava baby the other weekend. Fred acted all silly around her and made her laugh. Now I bet she likes him better than me!! Of course I let her touch me. Mom and Tiffy made sure she was gentle with me. She is a cute little thing! When that grandson comes I'll have to be sure to keep Fred away from him, I want him to like me best of all! Barney just acts like a goober head anytime anyone comes around!!

I must tell everyone, the other day Mom came home from work and she had me in her lap. She started smelling something that smelled like pee. She thought that I had peed on myself and made myself stink!! (Of allt he nerve for her to think that I would do something like that!) Well, Mom looked down at the floor and Barney had peed a HUGE puddle right under Mom's chair!! Now, Barney goes straight outside as soon as Mom gets home, regardless of the weather. Mom said he is not going to start that stuff up. I told her that I thought he needed to stay outside ALL the time, but Mom looked at me and said, "Ethel Marie, quit acting ugly!! Barney is your brother and he has as much right to live in this house as you do!!" So there goes that plan!! I'll try to write more often! Love, Ethel Marie

It's Been a Long Cold Winter

Hi Everyone: It's been a while since I wrote to all of you. It's been a rough winter for me. My legs and hips have been giving me fits. I fall down a lot and Mommy has to wash my back side after I come in. But that's OK, it shows just how much she loves me.

Mommy has a new job. She's gone most of the day and just home for lunch. Fred comes over everyday and keeps me company. He doesn't bother anything so that's cool. Barney is in his crate while Mom and Dad are gone so at least he doesn't bother me.

That baby Ava came to see me this weekend. She is starting to use her hands a lot and using her thunb. Lena, I remember what you told me about thunbs and I let her touch me and laugh at me so I could be sure and be on her good side. Mom and Tiffy made sure she was gentle with me. Barney acted like his usual goober head self with Ava. He kept wanting to get in her face and kiss her. I growled at him and told him to get away from her.

Mom has something new that she is very excited about. It's called a grandson. The way she explained it to me is that Ava is a granddaughter and Trayton is a grandson. He was born on Jan. 18. I haven't got to see him yet, but I don't think he can use his thumbs yet, so Ava is the one I will cultivate. When Trayton gets older, I'll use him too! Just think, they can get me treats and not care if I've already had my limit!! So what if I have to let them "pat" my head and "hug" me!

I want to send get well wishes to my "Thin Twin" Lena. She had surgery and got results that are not good. She will have to have another surgery to remove all the "bad stuff". Lena is tough though and she'll be fine. If you get a chance, be sure to send Lena your get well wishes and leave her bones and rosettes and maybe even a star or two!

My little paws are getting tired from all this typing. I'll talk to you all later, Love, Ethel Marie

My "AFTER" pictures

Hello everyone, I hope you've noticed my new primary picture here. It's one that Mom took of me after my recent "eye job". I think it takes years off my age, don't you??

Has anyone noticed the new picture of Barney on his page? That boy is too dumb. Aunt Tracy made him that vest and there he is wearing it at Christmas time (the picture was made the week before "Christmas)instead of in October. What a goober head!!

Aunt Tracy and Ellie came over and visited the week before Christmas. Unfortunately they didn't bring Calvin. He is still suffering from a fungal infection that is making his life miserable. (I easedropped and heard Aunt Tracy and Mom talking about it.)

That Ava Baby was at my house Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. She sure made out good with the presents but I didn't do to badly myself. I had partied so much with Christmas I just took it easy on New Years Day. My Mom's sister, Tracy (ANOTHER Aunt Tracy) came in from Florida with her two kids, Steven and K.B. and it is always good to get to see them. I got to show off my eye job and my manicure. All in all, it was a pretty good December.

SHE did it again!!

Well, everything was going along to good to last. Monday Mom and Nanny left my house with a crate in the car, I knew there was going to be trouble. "A few hours later, they came back home with TWO dogs!! One is OK, I guess, she is pretty calm and doesn't bother me. The other one is five months old and she just keeps on and on trying to bother me. Mom told me that I'm stil the queen of her house and they will be gone in a little over a week. Just keep that puppy out of my face!!

My Extreme Makeover

Hello Everyone, It's Ethel Marie. I've been pretty sick and haven't been able to write. The good news about me being sick, besides being much better, is that while I was sick I got an "extreme makeover". My Mom and I LOVE to watch those kinds of TV shows and I got the opportunity to actually live it!

It all started the week of December 11th. Mom had to go and take care of that Ava baby all week because her other grandmother was in the hospital. Dad started noticing that my appetite wasn't quite right. Thursday I didn't eat my breakfast and Dad couldn't get me to eat anything. When Mom got home Friday night, the first thing she did was make me some broth. (My Mom is a pretty smart cookie, she figured that it was my teeth bothering me!) Sure enough I lapped that broth right up. Mom had called the vet from down in TN and made me an appointment for Saturday morning. Sure nuf--the vet looked in my mouth and it was my teeth!! He gave me medicine to get the infection to go away. He and Mom talked about the risks of me being put to sleep for the "surgery" and decided to go the medicine way. Mom went and got me canned food and I LOVED it. Everything went great, I was taking my medicine and eating my canned food until Monday morning, I wouldn't even eat my canned food. All Mom could get me to eat was Cream of Mushroom soup! Mom called the vet clinic and scheduled me for a dental on Tuesday morning.

Mom started acting all goofy Monday night. She would hold me and start crying. I didn't know what was going on! Then she got up early Tuesday morning and took me to the vet. Poor Mom. She was so shook up, she couldn't talk without crying. The vet saw us and told her to come on back. (He was the one that I saw Saturday.) He took some blood from my neck and ran some tests on it. Everything came back good. Mom asked him if I needed my left eye taken out while I was under. He said no, but that he could "fix" my eye. He told Mom he could put a stitch in the corner of my eye and that would keep it from bulging so much. Mom told him to go ahead and do it. (He was always afraid that my eye would pop out when I would get upset or excited.) Mom also asked him to do my nails while I was out.

I felt sorry for Mom when she handed me over to him. She was crying so much. Of course, I was doing my best to be pitiful. I was shaking so much. He took me from Mom and promised her that they would take good care of me and that he would wrap me in a blankie for her.

Mom cryed all the way home. Everyone was calling and checking on me and all Mom could tell them was that I was in surgery. About 11:30 Mom couldn't stand it any longer. She called the clinic and asked if my dental was done and did I make it through. They came back on the phone and told Mom that I was out and everything went just fine. She could pick me up that afternoon.

Mom picked me up about 4:30. I was still pretty sleepy but very glad to "see" her. My mouth doesn't hurt anymore, even though it is still a little sore. They pulled a LOT of teeth, but I still have a few left. My nails are nice and very short. Hopefully, I won't have to go back to the beauty shop for a manicure for a while. My eye looks wonderful. It matches the other eye. Mom said I look exactly the way I did when she adopted me now. She didn't realize how much that eye was bulging until it was fixed. I go back on January 2nd, to have the stitch taken out.

Anyway, that's what I've been doing. By the way, I was feeling so good on Thursday morning that I tried to "tie into" Barney. Mom was over by us in a flash picking me up out of harm's way. She scolded me and told me the last thing we needed was for that stitch to come out too soon! Oh well, it was worth it, to aggravate Barney. Love, Ethel Marie
