A Peek at A Peke
Family AdventureMarch 10th 2008 1:22 pm[ Leave A Comment ] Should have known something was up - mom and dad aren't usually the adventurous types. At any rate, they piled us all, yes all three of us, into the car at 5:30 a.m. It seemed like a good idea at the time, we all really love car rides, but after a while it seemed to be taking an awfully long time to get to McDonalds or Dunkin Donuts!. I mean like 3 hours later, they pulled into this crazy place by the side of the road where there were lots of cars and trucks and gas pumps, and I thought to myself, well, maybe the donuts here are special! Guess what - not a donut to be found. They just walked us around a bit and then made us climb back into the car. This happened several times over the next several hours, I mean, I'm not one to complain, but even napping got boring. 600 miles later, we ended up in New Stanton, PA, in the middle of nowhere, with near white out conditions, in a motel room. Do you know how small a motel room is? Not much of space for playing chase, let me tell you! I did look at the bright side, I could actually jump onto the beds. So I'm making myself all comfy on the pillows, and mom went to answer the door - for crying out loud! Who the heck do we know here! Maybe it was a pizza guy. But no. It's mom's friend RS with a little beaglie baby. Sweet little guy I was thinking...until it dawned on me. When RS finished visiting with mom and dad, nice visit, she then put on her coat, and left. Alone. I mean really ALONE. The little beaglie was left with us! I tried to call to RS - did ya forget sumpin? But no, they planned this. Mom and dad were in on it...can you believe that? They invited this jumping, rooing, eating machine into our family! On purpose. The next morning, we climbed back into the car, and placed this new pup next to me. NO WAY was I traveling 600 miles back home next to this guy who thought I was made for jumping on. Everyone was well aware of my state of mind. I got to sit in mom's lap. All I have to say about this weekend is that mom and dad make me much happier when they decide adventures are too much work.
