Arrival Story:
I always dreamed of having a dog ever since I was living in an apartment with my parents in Brooklyn. Our landlord bred Yorkies so I always asked my parents if I could have one, they said no we weren't allowed. Of course they were just saying that because they didn't want a dog. So they promised me as soon as we get our own house we would get one. Did that happen? No, not exactly. When we finally lived in a house I asked again, they said "No, you have allergies." =o( It took about 10 years after living in our own house before it actually came up again. I was already 18 so my parents thought I was responsible enough to take care of one. My father was always OK with having a dog, it was my mother who never wanted one. Finally she budged and we decided to get one on my little sister's 11th birthday. We actually wanted to get a Yorkie like our own landlord's so we went to Shake a Paw nearby. The lady at the place said they're really hard to feed and they get kinda sick easily, but to take a look at a Shih Tzu that was there. Me and my sister were like eehhh fine. So we looked at him and brought him to the playroom and my dad fell in love with him because he kept attacking his shoelaces, and he kept biting on my pants..he was soo cute! So right then we knew he was a keeper. We made a down payment to put him on hold, and picked him up next day. We decided to call him Oreo because he was black and white. Now it's funny because as he grew up, he turned gray and white with a little bit of brown, and people always wonder why Oreo? I swear I treat Oreo like my son now... he's my baby ;o)
