This is a little late, considering I've been in my new home for 3 years now- but..

Hi! I'm Daisy, or Hola, soy Daisy!

I'm from Quito, Ecuador. Well, not Quito exactly, but that's where I ended up after being rescued by Angels from Stray From the Heart, a rescue group based in Queens, NY.

You see, there are bad people out there. And one of these bad people (nobody really knows *who* is was) beat me up really badly. They hit me so hard that my leg shattered and got all infected. Luckily for me, these Angels found me and took me to a doctor. They were not able to save my leg, and it had to be amputated. They had to cut off my tail, too, because I was so happy to be alive still that I wagged it all the time and it would throw my balance off and I would fall down. The lovely Stray from the Heart People put my photo on Petfinder, and my mom and dad saw it and fell in love with me.

So, on April 29, 2006, I got on an airplane and flew all the way from Quito to LaGuardia airport. It was a long flight but when I got out of the plane I met Toni Bodon, who is one of the Senior Angels (she's not old, she's just High Up On The Rescue Chain!) and my new Dad, and my Grandpa who came to meet me. Toni was very happy to help me out of my travel crate, as I was one of the very first Ecuadogs to come to the USA.

I settled in nicely with my new mom and dad and my new boyfriend, Isaac, and the cats too. I like to chase Bernadette but we've been caught snuggling too. Shh!!
Simon and I play sometimes. A little less than a year after I moved in, my mom had a puppy. Ok, it was a weird looking puppy because it only had fur on it's head and after a while I realized it was a baby human, but by then I had already decided she was *my* baby, and I was very protective of her and would growl at people and bark a lot if they tried to go near my mom and the baby or my dad and the baby. I still like to bark, but the baby is my friend now, and she hugs me all the time.

When the baby was 6 months old, in early September 2007, I developed septic arthritis in my knee joint on my stump. Mom and Dad had to rush me to the Special Emergency Hospital because I was leaking lots of serosanguinous fluid and I was very weak with a high fever. The next thing I knew, I was waking up from a deep sleep with my whole body shaved on one side and my stump was gone! I had to have the rest of my leg amputated. I took antibiotics and Ultram for pain for about 10 days but I was so happy to be ok again that I totally disregarded all the doctor's orders for "bed rest" and made my mom and dad crazy because I didn't want to rest.

I'm all better now and me and the Human Baby play together all day. Isaac and I are great friends, and because I'm from South America I was spayed weird. What that means is I still have ovaries, so I still go into heat and make Isaac (and everyone else crazy) So for about 2 weeks (though the People all say it seems longer) Isaac and I are honeymooners.

We get a lot of complaints, and Mom and Dad are saving up for me to get ANOTHER operation, to take the ovaries away so that I don't turn into hormone driven maniac.

I really enjoy barking and am quite good at it. I have all kinds of different barks- the "Hey I know you!" bark, the "Oh, no, Mr UPS Guy, you can't come here!" bark, the "HI MR MAILMAN HOW ARE YOU TODAY???" bark and the "I think there might possibly be an animal or a leaf or some air outside so I'm gonna bark real loud " bark.

Sometimes the People Tell Me to STOP BARKING but I don't listen. Barking is my raison d'etre.

I am a very fast runner, and when I sneak out of the house everytime Mom and the Human Baby (she's 2 now) come home, I run around the neighborhood, saying hi to everyone while HB cries "Daiseeee Come Hooooooome" . I don't like to make HB sad, so I always come back. I just like to adventure.

I was digging in the backyard two days ago , and it was great. Mom and HB were cheering me on, and as soon as Mom figures out how to do it, she'll put video up here of me digging.

So, that's a little bit about me. My favorite things to do besides bark are eat and lay on the couch. I love the couch, especially when there are People trying to sit on it. They make it nice and warm.

I'm a lucky dog, and it's all thanks to Stray from the Heart. You should check them out-

They are wonderful people, and they've got wonderful dogs. Like me!

All the celebrities buy their dogs from pet stores (BAD!! Puppy Mills are Concentration Camps for Dogs!) and spend thousands of dollars for dogs that all look the same. I am very special and different looking, and I'm a world traveller. My mom and dad call me the $5000 dog because of my surgeries and trip from Ecuador. They say I'm worth it, but I hear them grumble when they pay bills. Still, I know I'm worth it. Like the L'Oreal commercials, only I'm way prettier than any of those humans. I am Daisy Ampata (mom likes Buffy the Vampire SLayer, Bernadette the cat's middle name is Drusilla) and I am Worth It.

So is my life partner, Isaac Marvin. He's pretty special, too.....

Thanks for reading!
