Purple Rose of Cairo Audishe and a tooth

YAYY! after finding out that two of my pics are part of the cuteoverload calendar 2009 and receiving it (we looove it!) mom decided to send four of my spring session pics. It turns out they posted it!!! and Meg made such an amazing post! WE LOOOVE WOOFY PAWLLEN!

Check it out here! http://www.cuteoverload.com/ scroll down a lil and you'll find me there, with a purple rose on my head! :D

On the other hand, I recently had to get a new molar, since I lost the one the doctor reconstructed last year. So last month I went under anesthesia again and got a new one. But it seems I lost it yesterday chewing on a chicken neck :(

Mom and dad decided the doctor to pull it out, so I won't have the right superior molar. I know it's not going to be a big problem for me. I have tons of other teeth to enjoy my food.

GUAUUU!

Dressed as prey

"May be it's a clever strategy that mom planned to get closer to prey" I though. HA! what a nerve! Once again, she managed to slip me into a costume! I was rebelling and trying to make my point: "I am a working terrier, mom, how can I be dressed as prey?". I was pulling my leash like a stallion about being domesticated when I started to hear: "Awwwwwwwww! what a beautiful skunk!"

SKUNK!

I could only hear hundreds of generations of proud JRT hunters rolling in their graves... Here I was, instead of going with mom to the field and track some skunk, dressed as one of them... at least I didn't smell. And to say the truth, kids loved me, parents came and took pictures of me and after showing my charm in the runway, along dozens of other dogs (some seemed to enjoy it, specially Goldens and Labs... do they have no pride?) I was so proud I got the third place! Mom and dad were so happy too!

Mmmm it was a nice costume contest, and my favorite was a Golden girl dressed as a belly dancer, she was nice and I was able to leave my working terrier pride aside and enjoy the moment, at least for a few minutes.

I think making mom and dad happy is part of my job too, and it makes me happy!

Guau!

I celebrated my woofday in such an amazing way! First I had this great party with my JRT friends at the club, it was two weeks ago. That day Kuno became my boyfriend! It was his bday also, so I gave him a t-shirt, and he gave me a beautiful necklace! He is so handsome! *sigh*

Mom gave me a lamb meat cake! I loved it so much! My friends loved it also!

Mom and dad gave me lots of presents! three plush toys, a new bowl, a bowl mat, and the one I really don't like, a "beautiful purple vest" mom says... "you look sooo beautiful in it" she says.... grrrrr

Yesterday was my actual birthday! My best friend came and we played all the afternoon. Mom made an iced salmon cake! I also had a great party here in dogster with my friends of Perros de Mexico!

I love my woofday!

guau!

A brand new tooth!

I was in another doggie dimension today! It was not like a dream, nor like when I am sleeping in my bed! It was a very diferent place! While I was there, the doctor was repairing my tooth and two other guys were there reading my vital signs and taking care of the thing that sent me to that strange place: the anesthesia.

All I remember was some girl shaving my forearm and then a needle and then mom and dad sending me kisses and there I was... in that misterious place. When I woke up I was shaking because I was too cold! Mom and dad were there, with my blankets and giving me kisses again! I was shaking for like 10 minutes in a very warm table with hot air and my favorite blanket. Then I wanted to get up and started kissing mom and dad. We left for home!

Everything went great! my molar is fine now. I have the cleanest teeth ever! The problem is that my doctor found out that a big part of my fang's enamel is missing, so I will need to go to that strange place again in a few months.

Well, I am fine, happy and with a healthy mouth! and of course with my parents that love me so much!

guau!

A broken tooth

Last friday dad was giving me kisses as usual, then he noticed a different smell coming fom my mouth. He said it to mom and she decided to wash my teeth. When she touched my fourth molar with the brush, I yelled! She checked my mouth and saw my upper fourth molar in the right side broken and with the pulp exposed!

We went to the vet the next day, and he said that we better let the tooth like that. We weren't very convinced and found a very good vet/odontologyst. He saw me today and I am having endodoncy next tuesday! So I get to keep my tooth! yipee! Besides, the doctor will clean my teeth in that moment!

I don't chew on rocks or things, nor play hard with my toys. We think that I broke my tooth with one bone I ate that was too long or too hard. I will keep my BARF diet, but mom will select the bones she gives me from now on, very carefully!

I am doing great though, and I don's show any sign of discomfort, except when some one touches my tooth! ouch! I am eating fine, playing fine, going to walks fine... I am as beautiful and happy as always!

guau guauu!

Too much exercise and a little bird.

And I thought too much of chasing squirrels was not possible! Well, it is!

Of course it only could happen if you have been a month and a half out of your daily routine of exercise. Because I was in my heat season (the last one, mom and dad have been talking a lot lately about spaying me...) mom decided to cut on my excercise because of safety reasons... It is kinda difficult to walk an run with many dogs chasing you!

So we spent the last month and a half just havin little walks around my neighborhood and the closest parks. Then, one day as I was coming back to my normal self, mom and dad decided to take me to my very favorite place to run! Ciudad Universitaria (The National University Campus)! What was I supposed to do? I ran like there was no tomorrow! Mom and I had some resting moments, yes, they lasted like 10 seconds each, 'cause I always had a new squirrell to chase and bark at.

So we stayed there for 3 hours, running non stop. Well, that was not precisely wise... We arrived home and slept like babies for many hours... Next day I was walking like a pirate! My right front paw was in pain! Mom and dad massaged me and called my doctor. He said it is normal that after so much exercise my muscles were filled up with lactic acid... Just like humans!

Of course, The pain in my paw didn't prevent me from enjoying my supreme hunter power. The next day I was in a park, walking like a pirate, and all of the sudden I saw like five little birdies fleeing from me! Little did they know that one of them was going to be my breakfast that day... mmmm yummy! He was too slow, mom was to slow to stop me and I was as I always am: too fast! Boy, a bird can help you heal faster, that is for sure. It was Chicken for the Soul (and paw).

I am so happy I have a brand new best pal/sister! She is adorable and I love her! her name is Sophie Rose!

guau!

It was a quiet night. Almost 1 am and we were sleeping, not a sound in the house. All of the sudden mom wakes dad and I, she grabbed me from my bed, put my collar and leash on, she put her boots on and we went to the street! All of this like in five seconds! "What is going on?", I thought "Are we going to the park now, mom?". No! It was a big earthquake! All the cats were running like crazy on the street, dogs were barking, sirens went off, neighbors were outside...

I knew it was not going to be a big one, so I just decided to bark to the cats. But mom and dad were really worried! After a whole minute it stopped and we went to bed again.

I was again in my bed, cuddling with my new blue blanket with clouds on it, when another earthquake started! I woke up mom this time. This one wasn't as strong as the first one, so we stayed in bed.

Thanks dog, nothing happend in the city and no body was hurt.

Back in 1985, there was a huge earthquake in Mexico City and thousands of people died. We hope it won't happen again, but we have to be prepared anyway!

Well, we need to sleep tonight, because last night was a little shaky!

guauu!

A spring bath?

I don't get it! I just don't get my mom.

To begin the day, mom didn't allow me to have a little bird in my garden as breakfast! what a nerve! I insisted. He looked yummy. She said it was a little baby learning to fly. He was standing right in our window. I was half an inch from his delicious self with only a window between us! I was doing what we Jacks are meant to do, bark, dig, whine, imagine my breakfast. She didn't open the door because she said the "birdie" needed to learn to fly. I stood there for almost one hour, looking at him, barking and jumping. It was raining and I saw him getting soaked! when the rain stopped he flew! there went my breakfast! thanks mom!

After that, I was relaxing after our afternoon walk. Mom knows that JRT experts prefer not to bath their (so lucky) dogs! In fact we don't need it! we smell so good, we self clean so easily, we have a delicate skin, we don't have that much hair (may be that's because we shed a lot! BOL!) and we mostly don't like water! and what does she do today? Prepare a bubbly warm bath with my rubber duckie!

I was happy the last three months, I thought mom finally understood that bath was pointless. She just washed my paws from time to time and cleaned my coat with a warm wet towel. I even allowed her to put some spritz on my coat if that meant no bath. But it was too good to be true!

There I was in the tub, with mom playing in the warm water and singing me songs, bubbles everywhere, and Duckie swimming happily around. I must admit that I enjoyed the feeling and played a bit for the first time with my duck (again Cesar Millan's book has been so helpful!) while mom was working in cleaning me.

We had a good time, we had fun, water turned grey, I lost my perfect smell so hard to get during the last three months, but mom and I had a beautiful time!

I wanted to thank my new wonderful pal Tutu for hosting and judgind the Spring Fever 2007 photo contest and giving me the 1st Prize! I am so happy! Mom loves to take pictures of me (we have more than 5000!) and I love to pose! we have a great time and is so nice when someone else enjoy them!

Well, that's it for now. I am going to bed and cuddle with mom.

love,

Cami

Mastering the walk! Calmer and happier!

I am a new pup today. A whole new person.

In less than a week I went from barking all day long, growling at other dogs, ignoring my parent's wishes, barking mom to do what I wanted, pulling my harness to go where I wanted, being fearful of loud noises and loud people at the street to barking from time to time, no growling to other dogs, doing what mom and dad say, walking with a leash beside mom, and not being afraid of loud noises! I was walking absolutelly happy today and THREE motorcyles passed near me, I found a cat and didn't attack it, I was walking near lots of loud kids and I was calm, calm, submissive and happy!

And what is all this revolution about?, you may ask, why this profound and fast change in this pup's life? Is it some sort of wolf magic? some miracle performed by La Virgen de Guadalupe? No! It's nothing miraculous or supernatural! It is just because mom is finally understanding how to be my leader!

I am absolutely grateful with Cesar Millan and his fantastic book Cesar's Way. I am also grateful with dad for giving it as a surprise present to mom. And I am grateful with mom for reading it (it's unputdownable, she says), understanding it and being determined to change. I always knew that I had no flaws... I am a perfect pooch! BOL!

I was born balanced but with time and wrong leadership I began to develop some issues. Mom and dad were pretty worried, and they blamed my behavior on my breed (ok ok, I am still the best hunter ever and a very happy JRT, a calm and in control JRT can you believe it?) so they thought there was nothing to do with my issues. But now this fantastic book just trained them to rehabilitate me (mom says she is also being rehabilitated!) and with consistency and work 24/7, I am now able to inform you that I am a calmer and happier dog, with a well defined place in her pack and with lots of excercise.

Now mom and I walk like never before. I am now a citizen of the world! I can walk in the city as happy as I walk in the forest. We excercise and bond and see the world with new eyes... Mom sees the world with my eyes and I see it with hers.

This said, I will now proceed to change the Disposition level in my Doggie Dynamics on my dogster page. I used to be anxious, now I am a calm dog.

guau!
