Arrival Story: My husband and I had been discussing getting a companion for Sieglinde. One Saturday we went to a computer shop. On the way home, he stopped at Puppy Palace. When he turned into the street, I was expected an exciting hour (not) browsing in Super Cheap Auto. When I asked why we had stopped at PP he said, you like looking at dogs. We went in, and he said there were no large dogs, then we went around the corner. He said, there's a Rottweiler, then, and it has a tail. We walked over to the pen, and my husband said, I wonder if it is a boy or a girl, at which point she rolled over on her back. We had a cuddle, and I said to him, what do you think. He said, I think she's coming home with us.
He still maintains it was purely accidental, and he had no idea there would be a rottie X pup in the store. She is now an adorable, energetic 14 month old bundle of joy.
Bio: The Valkyrie are the warrior maidens who take the souls of dead warriors to Valhalla. I just couldn't call a dog Brunhilda (she is the leader of the Valkyrie).

The first walk was in 1994. Sieglinde was born in September 1993, so she was old enough to attend the first walk. She went on every walk including the one in 2006. That was my first walk and her last. Actually, the St John's Ambulance people kept an eye on her while Mum and I walked, cos by then she was rather old. She passed away that September, but I have taken over the baton, and will see that her favourite charity continues to be support by the Muttley Crew, with moral support from The Down Under Gang of kitty cats.
It's that once a year day - when we do our bit for creatures great and small who don't have the advantages we have, and show our support for our fellow four-legged, feathered, finned or whatever critters.
We'll post pics afterwards, so you can see how cute we look in our bandanas.
I'm so glad Mum got a 10,000 litre water tank, cos we're in the middle of a drought, with the dam levels at 20%. But we've had a fair amount of rain where we live, and the tank is just about full, so Dad gave me a Christmas treat and let me have a little play with the hose. It's my next favourite game after chasing my ball.
We had some turkey and ham with our dinner for Christmas, too. So did the cats, but they won't share. Mum always gives us a bit of whatever she has, as long as it isn't bad for us, like onions.
I hope everyone at Dogster (and Catster) have as good a Christmas as we have had.

1. I can leap really high to catch tennis balls and frisbees.
2. I love playing in my wading pool - I get down on my haunches, and put my head under the water, and bob my tennis balls like apples.
3. I like watching Inspector Rex on tv - he's a very cute German Shepherd.
4. I can jump onto the table where the cats are fed with one leap, and clean up their plates.
5. I have to have at least one paw in my drinking water when I take a drink.
6. I like to burrow under the doona, and curl up in a ball behind Mum's legs.
7. I like to show Mum and Dad how much I care by licking and cuddling when we're in bed.
