My Gale thinks I don't always act like Shih Tzu. She said I chase little things and herd like Shih Tzu's DON'T do. So,she bought a DNA kit to find out what other mixes were in me. It came back a couple of days ago...NO OTHER MIXES! I'm a full Shih Tzu as we always thought...I just have my own sweet personality!!!

It's been more than six months since I've written in my diary. Since then, I've turned six years old! My birthday was OK, but not anything spectacular. As much as I thrive on attention, it's sort of hard to upstage our new girl.
I still enjoy watching our neighborhood out of the window. More and more Gale has been putting me in charge when she goes to work.
I use to carry my weight better than Chloe, but it's beginning to show on me too.
I love when we go to grooming. But I really like when I get walked by myself early in the morning. We walk further without Chloe and I get to go to the places I love!
Around other people, I seem sort of hyper. But then I come home and rest up for the next few weeks!
It's going to take me a while to make our new little girl feel at home. She does like to call me. She thinks I'll only come when she said "treat." It just makes me disappointed when she never has a treat. She is much harder to train than Gale and Chloe were.
It's almost time for my annual visit to Dr. Silvius. Chloe has seen him a lot, but finally, it'll be my turn! I know I'm his favorite...so I can't wait.
I guess that's my update. I'll have to do better about coming here.

So, we have adopted a little girl. She is taking up ALL of our time. I've trained my share of foster doggies, but this little girl is a lot of work. I sit outside of her room and just wait for her to wake up. (Her door was taken down by our Gale.) So, I just wait for the baby gate to be moved, and then I go and use my licking skills to wake her up.
You wouldn't think so, but it is a lot harder to round up three than it was to do two. I end up running back and forth and back and forth a lot.
She and I get along very well. We have been waiting a long time for her. She does like to walk me, but I've become very picky about who walks me. I really prefer not to be walked by children.
I'm much quieter every year. Gale says my personality is sort of sad. I'm just pensive, she doesn't understand.
We went to Petco this week, and took some pictures with our new girl. Gale liked them. She bought a picture of me, Chloe and one of the three of us.
Just wanted to catch up and give all my friends a hi! Happy Easter!

Yesterday, they were working on our street, so neighbors were parked along the road for a couple of blocks. Gale parked her car down the street. After we walked, and ate, Gale decided that maybe she could move her car close to home. She and I walked to get the car. Since it was not far, she decided I could ride on her lap. She opened her door, and I jumped in and jumped into the passenger seat. She patted her lap, and I jump to the backseat, and into my car seat. I think I made her proud of my manners.

I went to see Dr. Silvius yesterday. I have not seen him in nearly a year. He smiled when he saw me and Chloe in the waiting room. I gave him lots of kisses. He said I looked good and seemed healthy. I weighed just two-tenths of a pound less than Chloe! Oh no!
After that, we came home and rested. Then it was Halloween! We sat outside and greeted all the trick-or-treaters. It was so much fun! I was clingy to Gale, and Chloe sat eating treats. But we enjoyed the kids. I was dressed as Snow White and other Snow Whites came by too!

I have discovered that I'm the baby of the family. I use to just take care of everyone, but when I realized I was the baby....I started demanding that they take care of me.
I have to ALWAYS be touching Gale or Chloe. It makes me feel comforted.
I whine a lot. I whine for everything I want. Turn on the bathtub. Come downstairs. Everything. But if I want Chloe, I bark...LOUDLY!
I do like to go on adventurous walks. I talk Gale into going various directions. Sometimes, we leave Chloe behind.
I'm not enjoying the neighborhood kids right now. I like to kiss them, but I don't want them to walk me.
Things are changing in my world. I don't know what's going to happen when we get the little girl we are adopting. Maybe I'll be more like my old self.

Today I turned 5 years old! Gale woke up a little after midnight, and she said, "Rox, Happy Birthday! You are 5!" I went back to sleep, but I could tell it was something special.
Although it's hot, Chloe and I dressed up for my big day. Gale let me have a sneak piece of my cake. Then she went to work.
After work, she gave me my cake after dinner. It was American cheese. I LOVE cheese!!!! It was so good. Chloe and Gale sang to me. We went on several walks and I got to dictate where we went.
Saturday, I'll do Part II of my birthday and pass out treats in the neighborhood. The kids were at the back-to-school event.
I've had a good day! But now I'm just going to rest, 'cause I am getting older.

This birthday week has been more subdued than previous birthday weeks. Actually, I'm a lot more subdued. I heard Gale say if I mellow anymore, I'll become a rock by the time I'm 7 years old! I don't want to be a rock. Right now I'm hiding from the allergy pill. Do you think those things are contributing to my mellowness?
We still don't know what I'll do for my birthday. I think we are going to take treats through the neighborhood again. I've been hearing Gale talk about my birthday cake. I can't wait for it. It sounds like something I would really like it.
One more day as a 4-year old!

It's my birthday week! Gale has decided to endulge me by typing my diary entry for me! No, we have had some computer problems. While waiting to type my entries, it'd take so long...she'd usually walk away and forget what she was doing.
Well, I'm going to be five years old on Thursday. I can't wait! We always do something fun! Gale said I might have a neighborhood party with the kids, but I might just pass out doggie treats again. I don't care which it is...as long as it's me getting the attention I so deserve.
Chloe and I babysat two Shih Tzus recently. We did not like them much because they were hyper. I do feel it's my duty to boss and protect all doggies. That wore me down. But just as I was getting use to them, they left. I was sad. I really get confused when doggies just disappear. I love my Gale...but you have to wonder what she is doing with dogs. I try to stay on her good side, but you never know.
Last week, the Sunday School kids came to visit. We had a great time with them. They are really nice. They dressed and walked us. They also fed us pizza!
We are busy getting ready for the two-leg girl we are going to adopt. We can't wait for her to come. Gale thinks I'll be her dog because I really do good with winning over kids. We'll see.
Hi to all my doggie friends. I am sad over the loss of our friend, Raja Babu Always. I really was shocked to hear about his going to Rainbow Bridge. And I can't help but remember my friend Duncan who went to Rainbow Bridge a few months ago. He and I share the same birthday.
I'll write more about my birthday week and it won't take a month!

Sometimes it seems people are looking for a way to understand what I'm saying. So, I've decided to put together a little Roxy dictionary. Dogs usually understand me, but this is for those slow humans.
If I bark a short, high-pitch, repeated bark...it means, "I'm in the tub. Come turn on the water so I can have a drink."
If I bark a normal level, urgent bark, it means...."I see a squirrel or bird out of the window that I need to catch it, so hurry up and put my leash on...I've got work to do."
If I grab your finger or your toe, I want to take you somewhere. Get up and go.
If you want to ask me something, then you should start it with "Do you want..." It usually ends with "...a treat"? or "...to go for a walk"?
If I don't go where you expect, and I hang my head and look pathetic, that means...."I don't want to go that way, I want to go this way. " You should change your plans.
If I grab you by your toes or fingers, and take you downstairs, and I grab a toy...that means, "Let's Play"!
If you ask me something, and I don't react, it means "no."
If you ask me something, and I run and chew on Chloe's ear it means "Absolutey, just what I was thinking."
If you ask me something and I wag my tail it means "Yes."
If you ask me something and I jump up to grab your finger, it means "Let's do it!"
I guess you are getting the gist of it. It's not hard. But hopefully this helps!
