When I picked up my boy at just over 3 months, we were driving him home, stopped for lunch, my girlfriend was in line, I was sitting on a bench with my little guy, his ears taped up, kind of scared sitting under the bench I was sitting on. A young girl came over to enquire about him, when she asked me what his name was, I said he doesn't have one as, I had just picked him up and wanted to watch him for a day or so. She took a step back, looked at him and said... He looks like a Gromit. And here I had all these fancy blue blood names in mine.....

I fear this is going to be my last entry for Gromit.

On July 13th, 1645, 2009 cancer took My Boy Grom.

We were with Grom for everything. His head was in my lap and Kim was hugging him. His breathing was so strained and he was not really there. He lifted his head a few times as he had to know his surroundings as was his breed and nature. At one point, he looked up and put his head in our Doctors lap. Kim and I were not the only ones crying. Grom had made such an everlasting presence on our Doctor and staff, and he was so helpful with our final decision. That is so priceless, as it was not a cold or duty type environment for Grom, he went in a warm and caring way. After the sedative, he rested his head on my lap and slept. When the final shot came, he went peacefully without pain or any after reaction. He was a strong and proud Giant all the way.

We did all we could and I know Grom faught all the way, as was his nature.

P.S. cancer sucks, it took such a beautiful and strong being, for nothing.

Just another Day!

June 29, 2009

The past couple of weeks we have been watching over Grom like a couple OCD people! I watch his every step, we watch his every intake of food.

Grom is getting so much more loud when it gets close to his chow time and especially when it is close to his snack time.

Since, we did n't get a return appointment for Grom this time, we have stepped up his healthy diet, which, Grom is realishing whole heartedly! He is currently on Prednisone which increases his appitite. So, to make Grom happier, we have increased his meal time.

I know, overweight is not good, so they are smaller meals and healthier. He is eating Sardines, cottage cheese, yogurt, flax oil, egg yolks, lamb, beefalo, and hamburger; the lamb and hamburger is raw, and taking more vitimines such as: IP-6 This is healping with his eye membrane as he was getting such goop in his left eyeball!

For his back legs which were pretty much destroied by the Chemo, we are upping the Gloucosamine. We have also included; vitamine D, E and some others I can't remember right now?

It has almost been two weeks since we were given a "date" Grom is just as healthy and always ready for his snacks and ALWAYS, ALWAYS ready to go for a car ride!

Lately I have been taking Grom to all the parks we use to visit, he loves this, the walks are short so, we spend time sitting. It is funny to watch all the other dogs come up to me, only to be startled when Grom Pops his head up!

Just incase anyone wants to know, we were only given a "couple" weeks before Grom will let me know... This pains me a great deal.
