Arrival Story:
Raphie was a stray that was brought into my wife's work. He was a mess...ratty, malnourished, overgrown, wet, shaking...but he met my wife and wouldn't leave her side. After 7 days of no one claiming him, she brought him home. He was a great little guy who hopped when he walked, loved to sit/sleep next to you, and let Jack be the dominant dog in the house.

Ralphie, named for Ralphie Parker in "A Christmas Story" (big round face). Ralphie was a Lhasa/terrier/schnauzer mix (or so the vet says). We didn't know how old he was or how sick he was until his first vet visit when he had to get 4 teeth pulled. He was about 12/13 years old, partially blind, mostly deaf, had liver and heart problems, and had a tumor on his wind pipe that interfeared with his breathing. He would hack like a smoker in the morning to move it around so he could breathe. But, boy was he just a sweet dog. He shouldn't have lived as long as he did, but we gave him the best year and a half of his life. In the end, his ailments took over and on the Saturday after Thanksgiving, 2004, we had to put Ralphie down. Jackie still misses him. But we were lucky to have him and he had a great life in the end.
