Out of the blue, I was selected as one of the "Four Seasons" dogs of the month for December! I was shocked, but also very honored. My Mom didn't put me on the site as soon as she did the kitties. It wasn't that she didn't love me. She REALLY did. But Mom still gets angry sometime when she thinks of the scams that the rescue home that had me pulled. They said I was healthy; I was not. They said I was potty-trained; I was not. I was twice the weight I should have been. I had cataracts and multiple tumors. And horrible dental issues.
I was a very sweet dog, and I know Mom was heart broken when I died. I was 12. Being on dogster has allowed Mom to see what I should have looked like, like my buddies, the handsome Hayden and Sebastian.
But being on dogster is also, Mom hopes, a cautionary tale for all who seek to get a doggie from a rescue home. Beware. Know more about the breed standards than Mom did. And insist on seeing the health records. If the owners of the rescue home won't let you in their house, it's probably because the house is in poor condition, and therefore the care is bad.
That's why Mom ultimately did put me on Dogster: So others will know that a rescue home isn't necessarily good and a poor adoption does not mean an unlovable dog. And now I'm the doggie of December! WOOHOO!
