Quick Bio:
-purebred-dog rescue

September 15th 2004

Sleeping, sleeping, and more sleeping, my custom made tempurpedic dog bed, catching and chewing on tennis balls, chewing on things, treats, hiking, meeting new friends, scratching, getting scratched, belly rubs, camping, the beach, the list goes on...

hair dryers, things that make strange sounds, dogs invading my territory...

Favorite Toy:
tennis balls, the fish and the snake, frisbees, and my huge rope tug

Favorite Food:
Hill's Prescription Diet D/D Potato and Duck (because I have allergies), carrots, kiwi, liver treats, and pig ears

Favorite Walk:
my new neighborhood because I now have huge Chopper-sized trees to mark, hiking anywhere in nature and at the beach but that's usually a short trip because I like to eat sand (as you can see in my photo)...

Best Tricks:
I can sit, lay down, stay, shake, give high fives, catch tennis balls and treats in mid air, and find my parents when they're hiding. I can also speak Wookie. We're working on other tricks...

Arrival Story:
My first owners gave me up because I'm a highly allergic medicine costs a lot of money and they couldn't continue to take care of me. I was sent to Gentle Giants Rescue where my new mommy and daddy adopted me. They take such great care of me and make sure that I don't scratch myself to death! I must say I couldn't have picked better new parents...they spoil me ROTTEN! I now have my own custom made tempurpedic dog bed fully equipped with bolsters and it's so big that two of me could fit on it! I also get to go offleash someplace everyday...sometimes it's the dog park, sometimes hiking, sometimes even the dog beach! And they take me everywhere with them! Since moving in with them, I've already been to Palm Springs, Joshua Tree National Park, and camping with my dog cousins, Reno and Lexis, in Santa Paula and at Lake Skinner. I can't wait for the next trip!

People always think I'm an English Mastiff or a Bullmastiff. Well, I'm definitely part of the Mastiff family but I'm a very rare breed. I'm a Boerboel! A South African Boerboel Mastiff, to be exact! I was originally born in South Africa but I was sent to Oregon when I was a I'm living in beautiful sunny Los Angeles with my new family and I love it...I guess when my previous owners gave me Neuticles I was just destined to end up in LA!

I have a HUGE yard now!

I haven't been very active here on Dogster because my family and I have been really busy lately. My Mom and Dad bought us a big house! Dad says I should feel lucky because they only bought the house because of me...big boys need a big house and yard to run around and play in and to protect. I love it! I now have so many rooms to lay in but I still have to follow my Mom around and hang out right by her side. And I even have my own room! We have a little room right off of the living room that I've claimed as my own. I can watch my parents in the living room while at the same time basking under the skylight and gazing out the window. Can you blame me though? I mean, it has a huge view of the front yard...what better place in the house to stake post?

I even have nice doggie neighbors everywhere and we all get along just fine. Walks in the new neighborhood are great...we have the biggest trees (what Mom likes to call "Chopper-sized trees") that I get to mark the whole time we go for walks. It's my neighborhood now afterall! And we have the coolest dog park near our house! Usually when I go out and about I'm the biggest boy around...but at my new dog park there are always other giant breed dogs. I even met an Irish Wolfhound the other day!

Hmmmm...what else is new? My allergies have gotten better and in the near future my Mom is going to put down new sod...a kind that I'm not allergic to. I'm really excited about that! And I'm getting bigger and bigger everyday. During my last visit to the vet I weighed in at 155lbs and I'm not even 2 yet! My Mom is guessing that I'm going to get pretty big...but she thinks the bigger the better. Just more of me to love!

My Tail of Devotion for Chopper

I may not always love you
But long as there are stars above you
You never need to doubt it
I'll make you so sure about it

God only knows what I'd be without you

If you should ever leave me
Though life would still go on believe me
The world could show nothing to me
So what good would living do me

God only knows what I'd be without you

-The Beach Boys

Mommy loves you more than anything in this world and beyond! I don't know what I would do without you. You are the dog that I've been waiting for my entire life and I would do anything for you, always making sure that you are healthy and happy. You are my doggie angel and I know that no matter what happens in this world you are always my constant and I am never alone. And this I give to you in return as well. I'm so glad that you chose me...I will be forever grateful to have had you in my life. You have definitely set the bar...

Hey Everyone! So glad to be here! My mommy and I thought it would be a good idea for me to make some new friends online. I'm excited to meet some new doggie friends, big and little alike! Don't let my size scare you away...I'm a sweetheart and very mellow. Can't wait to meet you all! Until the next time...
