A New Friend

So last week I had my very first Thanksgiving Dinner...WOW! I never knew such a thing existed before, but this turkey stuff is awesome!!!

It all started one evening when my grandpa came over. I love my grandpa - he lets me sit on him and he scratches my ears just right, and he doesn't even mind when I bark at the world. So I'm sitting on grandpa getting a good scratching, when mommy gets up and goes outside. I ran to the door to see what was going on, and when she came back in, there were other people with her - and another dog!!! She told us that was her brother and his girlfriend, along with my cousin Bear. At first I was incensed that anyone would dare bring another dog into my dominion - how dare they? I barked and barked until mommy locked me up in the bedroom. I could hear Bear out there, sniffing around MY house, sniffing at MY Stella, and even drinking MY water. I was furious! After a while, mommy came and got me and carried me out to meet Bear again...this time I was able to be quiet for a few minutes before I started giving her another piece of my mind - and I was banished yet again to the bedroom. Darn it! When I showed that I could be quiet, mommy let me out to try again...this time I held my tongue, and went and gave Bear a good sniffing.

How interesting! I've never met anyone quite like her! Bear is a terrier mix about 3 times my size - but she didn't scare me! I was furry-ocious to the max. So it took a few tries, but eventually I decided that Bear is an okay kind of girl. I showed her around my back yard and even introduced her to our neighbor, Aggie. Aggie was scared and ran away - what a girl! Even Stella was scared of Bear, but not me! By the second day, we played and played like we were old pals. It was pretty awesome to have a new friend!

But I digress...the next day we all went over to my other aunt's house for this Thanksgiving I was telling you about. There was turkey, and potatoes and gravy, and more food than you can shake a stick at. It was incredible! I was a very good boy and sat nicely under the table, and every once in a while some random hand would show up under the table holding a piece of turkey for me or one of the others. We shared pretty well because we all knew we'd get some. We all ate till we were stuffed, then we laid around doing nothing for the rest of the day. It was definitely my kind of day!

Bear and the others stayed for several more days, and we all got along great! I'm looking forward to having another Thanksgiving soon - I hope it happens again next week and every week after that!!!

Well I'm barking off for now - Woof Woof everyone!
