Arrival Story:
Went to the SPCA - walked thru looking for a lab or dachshund type dog - smooth hair. My little dachsie of 15 years had passed away a few days before.....I passed many cages - and when I passed a certain cage - the dog in the back corner looked up at me - with one ear cocked over and put his paw up. I looked @ him and thought - he's got too much hair - and kept on going. I completed the tour - and didn't see any that I felt drawn to. So - i went thru again....I passed this dog's cage again - and he put up his paw. When asking the kennel help about him - she brought him out. He was so happy to see her and gave her kisses. I asked how long she had known him - she said she fed him once....He was so appreciative for the kindness. I asked how long he had left. It would be his last day. He had kennel cough and they would euthanize him tomorrow. It was 3 p.m. - I adopted him! When we went out to my truck - I helped him get in....and as we drove down the road - he put his left paw up & on my arm....He looked at me so thankful. I named him "LUCKY".....Lucky I dropped by.....(I was the Lucky one!)....He is sorely missed....He passed away on 10/23/02. There will never be another!

Collie - shepherd mix. Very intelligent. Never bad! Didn't need a leash. Always listened....the PERFECT FRIEND!
