Arrival Story:
We always had poodles in our household. The first time we saw greyhounds was at the emergency vet clinic. There was thumping above our heads and we asked about the sound. It was greyhounds running. They were exercising on the second floor above the clinic! We were invited upstairs to visit the many greyhounds at Hemopet. The next time we saw greyhounds was at the Pet Expo with many rescue groups. We decided to adopt a greyhound, so we contacted the local rescue and submitted an application. We had certain requests: we needed a female that was small dog safe. At the time, we had a toy poodle and a labrador retriever. We were contacted by Joy and told there was a female in foster care. Joy and Pat (foster mother) brought Calamity to our house. She fit in right away with the other dogs. Calamity came to live and share our home. She is best friends with Cheyenne, the lab. She was very gentle with Tiara (toy poodle) and misses her since she passed.

Bio:
Calamity is an ex-racer from Arizona. Her racing name is Counter Claim. She was brought to California by Hemopet. We were told she does not like toys or balls. At first she was shy. After awhile, we found that Calamity loves squeaky toys and she even chases the tennis ball with Cheyenne! She developed cancer in her back leg. She is at the Rainbow Bridge with her doggy friends.

Victory is a nice dog, but I am having difficulty with her training. She wants to potty on the sidewalk, instead of the grass. I guess the sidewalk is better than going potty in the house. She likes to chew and ruin things that belong to momma. I told her that I never did anything bad. I am a perfect doggy in momma's eyes. Cheyenne and I will have to work on Victory together for her to become a well behaved doggy.

I have a new sister named Victory. She is an ex- racing greyhound, just like me! We are getting to know each other day by day. I am teaching Victory about the TV and doing one's business outside in the yard. Victory is not interested in toys or balls. She is very shy and a little scared because she has not been in a foster home. I plan to show her the benefits of living in a loving home and having her own bed. I will be a good big sister.
