Bio:
We got Cocoa right after having another dog put to sleep. It was summer vacation so I was home all summer with Cocoa. She was supposed to sleep in a chair next to my bed so that she didn't wander around but I would put her in my bed and she slept with me. She never slept a single night anywhere but on my bed or my mother's bed. She would also try to sneak into the bathroom and jump into the bathtub if one of us was taking a bath -- but try giving her a bath of her own and she became a holy terror! When she was 10 she had to have surgery to remove a fatty tumor that was affecting her walking, and after the surgery she kept getting more and more of these tumors. Then she started having seizures and suddenly went blind. The vet thought that perhaps she had a small stroke, but since she was getting along okay and the seizures were controlled she would be okay. She lasted six more years before the seizures returned and she started having trouble breathing. It broke my heart to have her put to sleep but I know that it was better than letting her suffer. I got to hold her in my arms as the vet put her to sleep, and I know that she understood and that she is in a better place now. I still miss her though, and I hope she's not too upset that one of my cats has become attached to her favorite toy.
