We went to visit Amber on Friday night, we got there late and spent the night. In the morning we went to petsmart. I got a new toy and some treats! Then we headed off to the dog park! It was amazing! I met so many new dogs, there was a ton of them there. And I made some new people friends too! They all wanted to pet me and tell me how cute and well behaved I was. I ran around and played for hours. I think it was the best day of my life! I played and played until I was so tired. We went back to Amber's house and had lunch, and then went home. I was so pooped! Later that night I went to Heather's friend Lauren's house. There was lots of people there to pet me. I went around and said hi to everyone, it was fun meeting so many new people today! It was such a great weekend, I can't wait to do it again!

My new home!

My name is Rio. I am a border collie/yellow lab mix. I am still a pup at only 8 months old. 2 days ago I went to my new home! It was a cooold morning at the s.p.c.a. Only 25 degrees or so on February 18th, 2006. A couple of people walked by my cage and smiled as I wagged my tail, but they kept walking to look at the other dogs. Then a girl walked up to my cage, she kneeled down and put her hand inside my cage, I gave her kisses and started wagging my tail furiously! "Please take me home!" I begged and whined as I tried to get closer through the cage. She asked a lady who worked there if she could take me out. She led me into the cat room and petted me and rubbed my belly! I couldn't remember when I had so much attention! My brother and sister were already adopted, and I had been all alone. I walked around and smelled the cats, and tried to be nice, they didn't seem to want to chat though. Then the girl took me outside. I pottied as soon as I got out there, I had to hold it a loong time in there! She said something about me being 'housebroken' already. She brought me back inside because it started SNOWING! this weird white stuff falling from the sky.

She told the lady she would take me! YEAH! A new home for me! So she signed the papers and I jumped right into the car and snuggled up for a nap while we drove home. We stopped at petsmart to get some supplies, I got to ride in the cart and everyone stopped and said how cute I was and petted me. One man gave me a doggie treat, and a couple little kids said hi too, I gave them all kisses on their faces! We finally headed home! I got inside and jumped up on the couch. Everyone wanted to know all about me! That night I slept in bed and her boyfriend, it was so comfy and warm, not like the cold concrete floor at the shelter. I was soo happy!

The next day they took me to the park, we walked down lots of trails through the woods, so many things to see and smell! I am so happy to be with people who love me and give me lots of attention! Next weekend mom says I am going to meet her friends dogs, oh boy! We are going to a dog park where I get to run around and play without a leash!

That's all for today's Rio Report, but I will write more when more exciting stuff happens!!

wet kisses
