Lazy dog days and vaccination hell!

Man what an interesting past few days.

So two days ago I went with dad and got vaccinations. The vet we were going to, Castleton Pet Clinic, is the one my grandma takes my brother Dusty (a whippet) too, and dad used to take Willy there. I guess they started going there because there was a really great vet they adored there. Well she has since quit, and went to work at the FACE clinic.

Anyway, they kept going there. My aunt Beth takes her two greyhounds to the Broad Ripple vet where my grandpa takes Gus. So we've been debating about going there instead. Boy I wish we would have had them give me my shots!!

I got FIVE shots!! It hurt so bad and I felt okay until later on in the evening. Mom spotted a little lump on my side by my leg about two hours later. Dad said he didn't see anything, and when mom came home later from going out she saw it was bigger, and they saw that I was acting really sad. I was totally miserable. I just didn't want them to leave me, and dad was being so nice to me. I just wasn't myself. I was tired, queasy and aching, it also hurt to touch me, which is so not like me!

Mom called the emergency vet, and they said to watch it and if it got worse bring me in. In the meantime I was posting on dogster forums about it, and I got some really helpful replies, that made me feel better, but a bit nervous.

The next day I was still miserable. Mom called in late to work and said she had to bring me to the vet. Grandma called and I went back to Castleton. Mom was pissed. She told them so - and that she wishes they would have never did 5 shots at once!

So they took me in, and mom left. They did some tests on me and watched me, I chilled there for a while, and a few hours later I started feeling better after they gave me a Benadryl shot. It hurt too, but I felt a lot better.

Then I heard that grandma was here to pick me up! I was so happy. Off her and I went, after I smothered her with kisses, to my place!! Dad was there waiting for me, and we all hung out. I was back to normal, ready to chew on stuff!

Then he went to work, then mom and dad both came home and were smothering me with hugs. I was ok!

So tomorrow mom says she is going to call the Broad Ripple place. It's also closer. I guess they do more "holistic" stuff which is like more natural things and not shot-oriented. Phew.

But the one good thing is that I can now join a dog park!! So mom is taking me to Broad Ripple tomorrow and we're goign to join. I am SO excited. Hopefully I can make some friends. I wonder if this will get me into the Eagle Creek one too, I hear it's huge and being near another big park with a lake could be fun..I've never been swimming...

Today was a lazy day though. It rained and was icky out. Mom and I chilled at home most the day waiting for dad to come home. We went out a few times to pee and poo and this weird rain but not snow type stuff was falling. I think mom called it sleet?

Mom is on vacation all week, YAHOO! So I'll get to hang out with her everyday for the next 10 days!! Her and dad are thinknig about going on a trip, and taking me with them. They were sayin ga bed and breakfast, and are hoping to find a dog friendly one a few hours away. I guess you sleep and eat! Sounds good to me!!

Alright, time to go..they're getting sleepy and I'm going to snooze on the couch till they lock me back up!
