Arrival Story: I met my Mom at a dog rescue adoption fair on Saturday, Jan 7, 2006, at Dogma Bakery in Arlington. When I first saw my Mommy I wiggled up inside her coat and gave her lots of kisses. She loved me right away I know that.
But she kept saying that she didn't want a puppy, that she couldn't take care of a puppy... I didn't know what that meant. But she left!!
I went back to Richmond with my foster mom and I was very sad that night because everyone except one of my brothers had been adopted and we had gone from 5 to 2 in the litter. A family was suppose to adopt me at an adoption fair in Richmond Sunday morning, but they never came for me.
Apparently my Mom was still out looking at OTHER dogs (the nerve!). When that one family didn't show up for me, my foster mom told people I was available to be adopted. A nice lady had filled out an application and had paid for me and I was about to go home with her - BUT THEN my Mommy was on the phone with my foster mom. Mom had changed her mind!! She was CERTAIN she wanted me and she was ready to do everything a puppy requires!!
Amazingly, the nice lady in Richmond withdrew her application and the foster mom took me home for one more night.
On Monday, January 9th my Mom took off work and came down to Richmond to get me. I've been a VERY happy and spoiled rotten Momma's boy ever since!
Bio: I'm a purebred mutt! Mommy tells people I'm an American dog; the best mix of all kinds of things. A really good breed guess is Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever (thanks Ginger for telling me!). I have a lot of looks like a German Shepherd, but I'm too small for that. I have these floppy ears that look like an English Shepherd so maybe that's it. And then I have this short but long body - so maybe Corgi. My toes are a little webbed, and that's a retriever trait. My personality is very collie... I don't really know what my background is, but I love how everyone tells me I'm absolutely adorable. I'd prefer if they said handsome, but adorable is okay with me, too.

Name: I am gorgeous, friendly, down to earth, and a bit metro. I am very fast and clever, know how to play hard, turn sharp corners, and shake off opponents. I am the neighborhood favorite. I am David Beckham.
We all went to the vet for our annual check up- Chelsea, Mia and me.
Apparently we've all put on weight.
I've gained about a pound (up to 37.5 pounds!!).
My weight gain is mostly due to Mom getting her exercise swimming more often (means fewer long walks with me...)
Mia has gained 3 pounds since she arrived in March. She was underweight to start with so she is only about a pound overweight.
But Chelsea!! Chelsea could stand to lose 2 or more pounds!!
Dad says she is just big boned and that I'm not allowed to call her 'Chunky Monkey' or tease her.
BUT!! I am allowed to chase them around the house more often!
And Mom says the long walks will become part of the evening routine like they used to be! whoo-hoo!
Except for all of us being a bit fat we are otherwise healthy!
