Soooo, mom has always wanted to do one for each of us. She prefers to do it before our time comes. Sounds kind of weird but she only wants to remember happy stuff.
Trudy...what can I say about you? I will never forget the day I saw you for the first time; adoption event at the Petsmart in Glen Burnie. We were there to look at one of your puppies. I remembered your puppies had a beautiful mom but we were there to look at your babies. But there you were...leaning up against your crate. We didn't expect to see you. That's when I realized, OMG, that's the babies mother! Cindy and I came looking for a boy puppy. We felt it was a better fit for Scooter. But you were irresistible. I looked at Cindy and said, "what do you think?". We had you and Scooter meet and you pretty much ignored each other LOL. That was okay in our book because at least you didn't try killing each other!
We took you home and I know there was a little period of adjustment. Scooter had to learn that your food was YOUR food and not hers. That took some time. I'm kind of glad you stood up to her. She needed to learn.
Here's what I want everyone to know about you. You are truly one of the sweetest, most loveable animals I have ever had the privlege of knowing. You are so kind to humans. You are so kind to children. Children come up to Scooter, Billy, and you and they usually go to the smaller one, Scooter. But it's you who always greets the kids first. You may jump up on them, but you also lean in a little...just enough to tell them it's okay when they get nervous.
When I cry, it's you who sits there and allows me to cry into your fur. It's hard not to cry as I type this. It's you who knows when something is wrong. When we get home, it's your wiggle butt that usually greets us first (unless you are asleep). That's what I'll remember the most about you Trudy. Your wiggle butt and your smile. There's nothing like it. Oh and who can forget your PINK nose. Ha! I love it! You are an incredible dog and I'm so glad, so blessed that God put you into our lives. Not a boy puppy, but a 3 year old female dog who had just had puppies. It happened for a reason. I also love that I know you know how much we love you. I can see it in your eyes. You grunt when we say we love you or hug you and give you pets. Oh and Trudy...thanks for loving Billy so much. I know you made it easier for him. He just loves you to pieces; he adores you.
I know it sometimes seems that Scooter is loved a little more. I like to think of it as loving her a little differently. If it makes you feel better, she is a bigger pain in the butt than you are. It's like you can do no wrong. You are our little angel Trudy. We can't love you more than we do right now. Just always know that I love you as much as humanly possible. To some that will sound nuts, but I don't care. I love you Mama Girl...our sweet angel.
P.S. going to hit save now. I'm not sure why it's so hard. I think part of me feels like it's saying good bye. Everyone who reads this will probably think I'm nuts. Ok...signing off...my tail of devotion to my sweet Trudy Dudy.
You are NOT "Nuts"
Writing this now is a GOOD thing...
Dogs have such short lives.. when they pass it clouds our hearts so much.....that we forget for a moment the JOY.
Here.. you tell of the JOY... that isnt "Nuts"
Maybe it is saying Goodbye to the young dog... but its sharing with the older dog the very special love.. the very special place THEY have in your heart.
As they get older.. we hold them a little closer.. a little longer. They rescue us.. we dont rescue them.
Some.. never live to be old dogs... so maybe we need to start this from the day we are gifted them.
Its not "nuts" ... its the joy and the pain.. the love and the exasperation... the whole nine yards...its called Life....
Celebrate The Life
