It's Not Easy Being A Green Puppy

Current Fetching

I still love to fetch. If water is involved it's even better! Andrew and Amanda often take me to a trail near our house. Part of it runs along a river so they'll throw sticks for me.

I've even gotten good about fetching sticks that are thrown into the current! I whine when I'm trying to swim upstream to get a stick but I'm happy once I'm able to grab it.

Sometimes when Amanda has to go to Meijer to pick up a prescription she takes me if she doesn't have to do any other shopping. Friday after Andrew got home from work I got to go for a ride while Andrew took Haven for a run.

At first I was sad that I didn't get to go running but I quickly forgot about that. First we had to stop at the movie place so Amanda could run in and get something to watch that night. We parked next to a car with a Chow in it. I didn't really care about that though.

After Amanda got the movie she was looking for (Best in Show - I wasn't a fan of it myself) we went to Meijer. I love going there. You know why? I always get a treat!

I'm not sure if they have lollipops for kids and I don't care. All I know is that they have treats for dogs. And I always get waves and some oohs and aahs from the ladies in the pharmacy. This time as we were getting ready to pull away the person who helped us brought someone else over to check me out.

Traumatic Experience

Yesterday Andrew took me and Haven on a run. We went to the old boyscout camp and ran on a trail along the Flat River. When we first arrived and were taken off our leashes Haven went into the river because she saw a duck. Later it would be my turn.

On our way back I decided to test out the waters. I jumped into the water off a little ledge. There was some ice at the endge of the river because it has been so cold here. I fell through the ice. I tried to get back on to shore but couldn't make it. Although I could stand in the water I was still scared and freaked out so I started screaming.

Andrew came down a hill from the trail to help me out. I heard him telling me he was coming as he approached. He tried to pull on my collar but that didn't work very well so he also grabbed on to my elbow to help pull me out. After I was out I was relieved. I rolled around a bit on the ground and then took off running.

Andrew made sure I kept warm and we made it home. I ended up having some ice chunks form on my fur though because it was so cold out! I was pretty tired the rest of the day and night and slept most of the time.

Year in Review

My sister Haven has a journal so I couldn't be left out! I also hope to keep this updated with all that goes on in my life. Although I like to sleep most of the day some exciting things happen from time to time.

In the spring of this year Andrew and Amanda started fostering dogs. At first I wasn't so sure about this. I'm not a fan of strange dogs, especially those on my turf. But eventually I got used to having a foster brother or sister.

I still make sure I let the new dog know that I'm the boss. Some of the foster dogs I've like better than others. The ones who jump around and are unpredictable aren't my favorites.

This year Haven and I learned how to catch a frisbee. I love it! I get really intese as I'm waiting for the frisbee to be thrown. I'm in killer mode as a run through the yard to catch it. Most of the time I leap up to make contact but with the low ones I'm able to just grab them out of the air while running.

I'm sure Haven and I will have a lot of adventures to write about. I'll have to make sure to remember to share them.
