Zoe - her life and her loves

There is no beach like Cannon Beach!

Well, I did it. I got to ride my first big wave...no, I didn't get to surf per se, but I did get to swim in the ocean and this was a totally new and awesome experience for me.

When my people told me to jump in the car I just assumed we were going for a quick drive to Safeway or maybe even heading to Mega Dogs, but we just kept driving. We drove and we drove and we stopped when I needed to pee, and then we kept driving some more. It seemed like it was a long drive from Seattle to Cannon Beach, OR but I have to say it was well worth it.

At first it was a little strange in this new house, but you should have seen the size of the backyard. It was HUGE! I just ran and ran and ran some more, attacking a few plants and butterflies while I was at it. Then I saw the early signs of a hole that someone else must have tried to dig and I just went for it. This place was great, but the shrubs that lay at the other side of the fence looked too enticing to resist. Just when I thought I was getting close to my exit 'they' turned up. Yeh, my pesky owners seem to have a built in radar that detects when I am having too much fun. Of course, they blocked the hole I was digging, and dragged me in sidebut then we went for a walk, which was way more exciting.

We made it to the sand dunes and then all I could see was a really huge swimming pool. It stretched as far as my eyes could see. It was amazing and I wanted to swim in it. My people wouldn't get rid of that pesky lead, but they did put me on a 30ft lead which meant I could go crazy! My owners kept whining about how cold the water was but that didn't stop me from swimming jumping and splashing for hours. It was awesome!

It was getting late so my people 'dragged' me out of the water. Ok, so I admit that I was a little hesitant to leave especially since I was having so much fun. But after arriving home, having a quick bath and chomping down my favorite meal of Darwins, I was ready for a nap. Actually, I realized that I was totally wiped out and all I wanted to do was sleep (and dream about the ocean) - which I did.

Mega Dogs for a mega pittie!

I love to swim but after dealing with a couple of nasty pooches at an off leash swimming hole at Magnuson Park, my owners felt my doggy swim sessions were over. What do you mean my dog swim days are over? They wouldn't listen to me and kept saying it wasn't safe because too many irresponsible owners visit off leash parks. So life was boring...But that was until I found out about Mega-Dogs (http://www.mega-dogs.com/pool.htm) in Woodinville, WA. The owner Karen is really great and took me through our first session as I was just a little nervous, but after 4 sessions I am now an Olympic swimmer! Hey, my people even try to outswim me but when they feel my nails down their back they know that am on their heels. Yep, I really am the fastest swimmer around.

I have a awesome time with my owners and me swimming around, playing fetch and playing chase for an hour in the water. Yep, an hour with the pool all to ourselves. Of course, it costs money but that's no concern of mine. I just love it! At first I may have been a little afraid of getting in by myself so I would make my people get out of the pool after every lap, grab me by the handle on my life jacket and lead me back into the pool - but now I just leap in. Yes, and did I mention that I get to wear a really cool red life jacket? I just love it.

All I can say is that I can't wait to get back to the pool because Mega - Dogs is a huge dose of Mega fun and I want more! more! more!

My boyfriend Blue

It may have seemed like we were world's apart but in fact the only thing that was standing in our way was the 6ft fence separating us...and my owners who will not let us be together all the time.

I still remember the day we finally got to meet....my owners were talking to the girl who is always with Blue and then they came inside to get me. Yippee we are going for another walk - I thought. But when I went outside I was greeted by this handsome golden lab. It was my Blue and it was certainly love at first sight! We played and bounced around on the front lawn for awhile though it was a little difficult as they wouldn't take my lead off so we kept getting tangled up. Then you wouldn't believe what happened - I went into Blue's back yard and got to play for ages and ages. Of course, he is a little overweight and isn't quite as fast as me, but he will get fitter over time. My owners came to get me and kept saying something about 'it has been 2 hours and you must be tired and hungry'. Gee, I don't speak their language - why don't they just bark like me and Blue - then I might understand them. All I do know is that by the time I walked inside I was exhausted....and totally famished.

We have been inseparable ever since...well, not really, our owners continue to get in the way of our love. So everytime I get a chance to go outside I will jump up on the deck and look for my 'Blue' and if he is outside he will bark and it doesn't matter where I am, I will run straight to the nearest soI can see him gazing at me.

I really wish I could move in with him but there ain't no way that my owners will let that happen. I admit that they let me go over to play with him once a week....oh maybe it is more than that. Ok, so it is more like 4-5 days per week but it is never enough. I swear I think my owners must have some sort of separation anxiety cos when I am with Blue they just stand on the deck staring at us over the fence. They really are the strangest people those two, but I do love them and maybe if I am lucky they will let me play with Blue again tonight?

I had a doggy play date

One day while walking through Petsmart I bumped into this really cool puppy around the same age as me. Just as we were having a great time getting to know each other my owner started to walk away, which meant that I was dragged along with her. You would never believe what happened last sunday. The same puppy turned up at my house! I couldn't believe it! We got to play together for 2 hours and did I have fun. Of course I got pretty exhausted but I had to make the most of every minute we had together, as I didn't know how long Fergie would be hanging around. After 2 hours of continuous play we were exhausted and had to call it quits. Fergie headed home and I headed to the nearest blanket to sleep for the rest of the day.

A ruff start to the day?

They did it again! They had those clippers in their hands and they tried to clip at my nails. Uh uh no way. So maybe I didn't mind all that clipping before, but can't a girl doggy change her mind? That is what I did and I am standing by my decision. They tried the first time and I just threw a HUGE tantrum and then they stopped. My daddy tried again and mummy even tried to hold me down, but they had nuthin on me cos I just squirmed, and squirmed, and I was free as a bird. Not really free as a bird cos if I caught a bird it would definitely not get free. Daddy left, and then mummy thought she would try again. Her methods were always much nicer than dads. She brought out the clippers, and a nail file, and even a bowl of diced chicken breast. Here we go this is going to be good. Ummm that chicken tastes good, but I am still not in mood for all that clipping. Hey, she walked away. I think you could say she was pissed. I ended up in my crate and everyone was gone. When she got home we were heading out to the car and she had the nerve to talk to another dog. Can you believe it! She even took the dog into my house, and then I ended up back inside and locked in my room. I just know that dog was in the basement cos I could smell him. I heard her tell the person from the animal shelter that he was a stray pit bull and he was injured - thats too bad. After we sorted all that out I was on my way to adventure land again. Only we ended up at a pet place, hey it looked good to me. But then I met three ladies and they had those clipper things also. No way! If mum thinks I am going to let three strangers touch my nails she has another think coming. I squealed and squirmed, one paw done. More squealing, I was howling actually, another paw done - this really wasn't going how I expected so I better toughen up my antics. I growled and barked and the next thing I knew I was of the table and heading out the door. That's more like it, even if mum is saying nasty things about me under her breathe. So I get home and daddy is waiting for me. Next thing I know I am on the floor, he is nearly on top of me and I can't squirm anymore - another paw done. What the hell, this is certainly not the fun and games I thought it would be. I may aswell just give up and find another game. Last and final paw done.

I am exhausted

I have to say that I am totally exhausted. This always seems to happen on the weekends when my parents don't have to go to work. Hey, don't get me wrong I am so not complaining. We have had a ball, literally. The past two weekends we have been driving far, far away and I get to run off leash. Off leash, can you believe it! Of course there are 6ft fences around the property but the area is so huge that I keep running, and running, and never seem to reach the end. Today I managed to find a ball and played endlessly. I couldn't let my folks miss out so I would often let them run for the ball aswell. I also met three doggy friends which was totally awesome! Unfortunately, they were on the wrong side of the fence, but that didn't matter we just ran back and forth along the fence trying to see who would get tired first. Hey, don't look at me I just kept on running...there was no stopping me! Until of course the folks said it was time to go home. Then we headed home and they gave me a bath - only because they didn't like the mud that I brought home with me.

Basic Manners

I just finished my Basic Manners course. I did learn a great deal but I wish I had more time to just hang out with the other dogs. Admittedly, I kept showing all the other dogs up because I caught on to all the new tricks so quickly. To tell the truth, I think the trainer was hitting on me as she kept choosing me to show the other dogs how it was done. I can't really blame her as I am totally irresistable!

Looking for love in all the wrong places

Zoe is just one love hungry little girl. Unfortunately, she sometimes looks for love in all the wrong places. One of those places was with a 100lb Akita. Even when the dog had her by the scruff and was growling angrily Zoe was nonchalant about the whole affair. As I dragged her down the road, she turned her head for a quick glimpse of the love that would never be.
