I am a happy girl

So another year has passed by {{{{looking dreamily at a picture of her man Brutus}}}… I have so much to be thankful for this year. I have said yes to my Brutie babe and now we have wedding plans for June 09.

I have learned how to be a really good baby sitter… Little Lucy Lou isn’t so little anymore and I have helped her grow up to be a very good girl. {{{{really asks her mommy???}}}} She can leap from the top of the deck now and not hurt herself, she knows how to swim in my pool and she finds the best place on the couch to take naps… good girl!

I thought for sure Max hurt himself worse than he really did… there was glass and blood {{{gasp}}}} everywhere! I got to go to the vet with him and the vet said I was a very good nurse. I even let him have the warmest place around the wood stove.

Mom is learning to deal with my food allergies really well… she still sneaks in a good ol cow bone every now and then, specially on Christmas day! That was yummy! Then we get this HUGE box from Kokoa and Kingy and there is special treats in there too that mom said I could have after she read the labels… we could starve waiting for her to finish reading the labels! I took the Santa toy and hid it from Max cuz he wanted that squeaky REEAAAalllllll bad!! I jump up on the couch and sniff Santa every once in awhile to be sure he’s okay.

Anyway… I hope for all my pals to have the best new year ever and for all doggies on earth to have a nice warm fire and good food forever!!

I had to babysit today...

So mommy went to the post office this morning and when she came home she had Lucy with her... at first it was allot of fun then mom informed me and Max that we had to baby sit today. Well we have NEVER baby sat before so we didn't really know what to do...

Before we knew it she was diggin in our toy basket and stuff was flyin outta there! Bones that me and Max had stashed in there and other special toys that we just ***LOOK*** at, ya know not to play with ***DISPLAY ONLY***. She drug everything out to the living room then she drug it all out to the dining room then the next thing we knew all the toys and bones were at the kitchen door! Like she was putting everything by the door so when she goes home ****and she is going home**** all the toys will be right there for her to take home with her. So I asked mommy to pick them up and move them back to the toy basket while we took Lucy outside for a swim... I'm teaching her how to swim... really I am.

Lucy took a nose dive off the deck while following Max... she landed right on her nose... I thought I heard Max laugh... she follows him everywhere in the yard. He ran down to the corner to yell at some
C A T and she ran right after him! Looked kinda cute ya know with one "large" butt and the cute little puppy butt running down the fence line!

I asked mom if I really had to watch every move the baby made and she told me “to be a responsible pit bull and take care of the baby”… plus she added in that she would have bully sticks for us tonight after the baby goes home ***and she is going home***.

I mean don’t get me wrong, I like her and all but she has sooooo much energy! Runs here and runs there then when she’s tired she just drops where she is and takes a nap. By the end of the day I’ll teach her to take naps on the couch where it’s nice and comfy!

Oh… I hear her at the door, guess I better go see what happened… I hope Max didn’t hurt her or anything!

WHO’S GONNA PAY ME FOR THIS??? HOW MUCH DO BABY SITTERS MAKE ANYWAY???

Max got me in sooo much trouble!

So mom went to the store for just a few minutes... Max got this wild idea to get into the kitchen garbage! I tol him and tol him DON'T DO IT MAX! But does he ever listen to me??? NO WAY!! So he had a FIELD DAY! There was coffee grounds and chicken and some kinda wet paper towel stuff and all KINDS of good stuff in there. He was a rippin and tearin from one end of the house to the other!

I of course had nothing to do with this and tssskkk tssskkked him from the couch... I knew mommy would be verrrryyyyyy upset about this so I just stayed away and warned him over and over...

Then we heard mom's car pull in the driveway... {{{{gasp}}}}
I said "Max you better run and hide brother cuz you are in reallllllyyyy BIG trouble!!" He didn't... the big dork just came over and sat on the couch with me like nothin had even happened?? Can you believe how hard headed he is???

Well mom came in the kitchen door and just stopped... dead in her tracks... I know the signs... when mommy is quite and her face turns red... RUN!! RUN LIKE THE WIND!! Not good!!!

She started making this terrible sound - she YELLED at us!!! She just couldn't believe we would do this terrible thing!! I turned to Max and whispered "you did it this time pig boy... you die..."

She made us rub our faces in the garbage - which really created more of a mess for her to clean up... but I discovered I don't care too much for coffee grounds and Max got the garbage can lid tied to his neck for awhile... he didn't much care for that either!

She ignored us all afternoon and that realllllly hurt! I hate it when Max gets me in all this trouble!

Mom seems to be better now... at least she talks to us today and her face isn't that ugly red color anymore.

Could it really be SPRING????

Being from Nevada then moving to "PARADISE" as mom calls it has been interesting to say the least! All kinds of good changes in our lives have made us happier then we've EVER been! But as I glance at the calendar and see the month of April coming to a close I'm reminded of the times mommy has been out in the yard working in her flower beds and planting new stuff and trimming and trimming.... {{{tapping chin with manicured nail}}}.....

She's not doing that.... could it be because it keeps SNOWING????? {{{{growl}}}}}

Spring time in Montana is certainly different than we've ever seen before! Today however is simply beautyful!! The sunshine is bright and the woodstove only has a small warming fire not a real BLAZER as usual... this could be {{{{happy dance}}}} the day we all get to go out to the lake or SOMEPLACE!!! Pawleeeeeeze!!! Take us SOMEPLACE!!!

I think {{{paw to forehead}}} I have cabin fever… the only cure I know of is to GO GO GO!! So today is looking pretty darn good!!

Maybe my Brutus would like to come over and play??? Now THAT {{{{sigh}}}} would really make my day!!

Valentines Day Tag from Brutus

My Holiday Wish

You know I get so emotional especially this time of year {{{{sniff - blowing nose}}}}

I see so many dogs just in my neighborhood running the streets and I wonder "where are their people? how come their people don't care and let their dogs run and could get hurt by a car or worse???"

The other day mom came home for lunch and found these 2 golden labs running around our fence so she loaded them up in her car and then thought "I can't take them to the shelter - I just can't - they'll just stay in that cold cage and maybe their people won't even miss them..." so she took them to our vets office and the nice ladies there took the boys in and went thru the records to find the dog's people. The vets office let them stay there while they contacted their people and mom felt so relieved. The beauty of living in a small town - everybody knows who your people are.

But... {{{sniff - blowing nose again}}} not all dogs are this lucky - we know we can't save them all even tho our hearts ache and hurt when we see a mis-treated dog... well {{{sniff}}} we have to be thankful for what we have and the warmth and love and comfort our people give us.

Max and I are very thankful for our home. Even tho mom "over does it" sometimes and smothers us with kisses... we love her right back and kiss her all over her face - I especially like that and save up all my spit just for those occasions! {{{{slurp - slurp}}}}

Then we moved to paradise as mom calls it - where we had our first encounter with kids, 3 legged cats and all kinds of wildlife that wanders our neighborhood. And now we have Den in our lives and we love him {{{{[sigh}}}} He takes us places and makes sure people in our town know we are not bad dogs and that we are friendly and love people! He makes sure we are safe in our yard and have a good strong fence to keep the bad guys out - we have more freedom then we have ever had in our lives! I know I'm not nervous or jumpy like I was when we lived in a little house with a little yard and solid wood fence... I like seeing what the noises are and seeing what I'm barking at! Max even sounds like a "man dog" when he barks now... he used to squeak like a girl {{{{arrooooooo!! I used to laugh at him, not anymore tho}}}}

So I guess my emotions run high with mom's as we want to "save the world" and bring all dogs in to a warm loving home with lots of food and fun. I wish we had more property and we would do just that!

So Happy New Year to everybody and me and Max hope for warm loving homes and lots of food for all!!

What is THIS in my FRONT YARD?

I had to go (potty) so I asked mom to let me out this morning and it was still dark {{{oooh scary}}}}
and verrrrryyyyyyy cold -4 degrees... {{BRRRRRR}}

As I stumbled thru the snow to "my place" I happened to glance to my right and {{{{{GASP}}}}} I was starin right into the eyes of a deer!!! {{{***OH***}}}

****STANDIN RIGHT THERE WITHIN PAWS REACH WAS A GIRL DEER****
{{{{{{{{{{OMDAWG!!!!}}}}}}}}}}
{{{***GASPING FOR A BREATH***}}} I was shocked!!

I looked at her and she looked at me and we just kinda stood there wondering what to do next... my mouth fell open and she kinda moved to the right so I just started talkin to her... "Wooo Wooo hey there Wooo Wooooo"

Well I musta said something bad in deer - neeze cuz she ran and jumped over the fence and was gone in a flash... all I saw was her pretty little white tail in the darkness.

{{{{{Humph}}}}} That was interesting I thought... I hope I see her again, we could be friends.

Max was at the door wanting out too but mom made him stay in cuz he... well... he thinks he can catch a deer like the lions and stuff he sees on TV... {{{{{Haaaaa}}}} He can barely carry his lard behind back to bed... which is where I went after my escapade with the deer!

Not a Happy "TURKEY" Day at my house

SO… all my friends are having TURKEY or HAM or SOMETHIN like that today... me and Max were all excited too cuz we LOVE turkey!

In past Thanksgiving Days mom got up early and started putting together the most delicious feast you EVER laid your eyes on! She made gramma’s corn bread from scratch to make the turkey dressing with, she simmered giblets and turkey pieces and parts real slow to mix in the dressing, she made pies and cream corn and green bean casserole and…. Ohhhhhh! It was amazing!! All of us dogs were not allowed one little toe nail over the line to the kitchen… we didn’t care - we knew all this wonderful smelling stuff would be in our bowls too at dinner time! We'd just lay there and wait... an occasional tap of a toe nail on the tile floor got mom's attention and she'd have to scold us... we'd just laugh cuz it was a fun game to us to freak her out every now and then while she was cookin!

So I knew this day was comin and my mouth has been waterin and Max was droolin (as always)…

So when mom got up this morning kinda early me and Max looked at each other and whispered “YAY! She’s gonna do that big dinner thing!”

But then something happened… we didn’t smell the cornbread cooking or the turkey pieces and parts simmering… OH NO!! We smelled different stuff… there was some kind of meat cooking - there was onions sautéing with garlic - the wood stove was built up - there was a CLANK of cast iron!! What was happening??

We hurried out of bed, Max dragging the “softy” blankie with him down the hall {{{yeah, what a big boy he is?}}} and zoomed into the kitchen… hmmmm… something different is goin on here!

Mom had elk, carrots, taters, parsnips and other “stuff” all thrown into the big cast iron kettle… then to our amazement she put the kettle on the wood stove and then sat down with her coffee and started watching the big parade on TV!
!!!!HEY! MOM! WHAT’S GOIN ON HERE! !!!!

She explained we were doin our thankful day a little different this year and guaranteed us we would still have good stuff in our bowls tonight and by the way do we like lemon meringue?? What’s a meringue?? We don’t know! But one thing for sure it’s gonna be good! All our kids are comin over and friends too to join us on our thankful day and just be happy we are here!

From our house to yours we hope and wish for all our doggy pals a wonderful warm and loving day - not just today but every day!

And to those doggies that aren’t in a full time permanent home - you will be soon and you will be loved and warm in your homes just like me and Max… but don’t drag your blankie around if you’re a big boy dog… it just doesn’t look good! Arrrroooo!!
