Being bothered by his sister, "Gracie Mae!"
Anywhere you want to go!
Lou speaks English! Honest! He will actually tell you what he wants and carry on a conversation with you....IF he feels like it!
Louie was a very abused rescue doggie. His story would make a grown man cry. But after 4 years of love and spoiling, he has become the "Man!" Louie's breeding isn't the best although he is a purebred Chinese Crested, but coming from a Puppy Mill they didn't care about such things! His legs were broken and a razor blade taken to his head. He had a ton of hang ups when he came to live in our home, but we couldn't say "no" to such a sweet little soul.
Louie lives in New York with his parents and siblings. He is a very healthy, happy boy these days, and has decided he is the BOSS of the house!

My name is Louis James and I am a Chinese Crested rescue. I was born in a Puppy Mill in New York State, and was very abused the first year of my life. My legs were broken, and someone took a razor blade to my head! When the rescuers found me they found out 48 of my buddies didn't make it, but somehow, I knew I would find a good home and wanted to live a happy life! The rescuers spent a lot of money on me just getting me healthy enough to find me a home. Then one day, my new Mom saw an ad at the Vets that I really needed a home, and she went home and told my new Dad. Daddy said, "No more dogs!" and Mommy was upset, but just pulled the "silent" act and finally Daddy gave in and she made the phone call. She came over right away the next morning and we met each other! It was love at first sight! No one had ever held me because of the ozing sores all over my body. I had to eat, sleep and poop in my crate, and my skin was really in bad shape. But mom didn't care. She picked me up and kissed me and held me so tight, and I knew I found a home at last! She petted me, sores and all, and it felt so good that I started wagging my tail. My head looked up at the ceiling and I thought I went to heaven! Surely this must be how it felt! She noticed a cude tatoo on the inside of my leg with all these things called "numbers" on it. She said it was like the Jewish people when they were confined and had been tatooed. It's ok with me, I just ignore it now....but Mom says it is a constant reminder of my tough first year and will to live and how happy Mommy and Daddy are to have me in their lives!
Well, mom took me home, but I didn't like men! I wouldn't have anything to do with my new Daddy! I was afraid to even go outside. I mean, "Outside? What was that?" Now I had a nice backyard that terrified me! My brother, Apples, is a Seeing Eye dog and since Daddy is totally blind, Apples seemed to understand so much how I felt! He would go out with Mommy and Me and stick right next to me and kiss and love me until I felt more comfortable. I still want Apples to go out with me, but now I will go out alone as well, as long as Mom stands by the door!
It took me 4 months to make up to Daddy, but Daddy understood me, and just let me make up my mind when the time was right! Now, Daddy and I are the best of friends. Mom and Dad thought I was debarked because for 4 months I never made a sound! (Actually, I was just learning English, because now I speak English pretty good, and can carry on a conversation with anyone!) I bark with a vengence now and have become a great watch puppy!
After much money and so much time and understanding, I am almost back to what Mom says should be normal for me! I still have nightmares, but Mom just takes me in her arms and holds me and loves on me until I calm down and go back to sleep. I am very spoiled and Mom says my wardrobe is nicer than hers! I even have a friend that custom makes my four legged clothes for me! I am one lucky guy!
Mom says that when she is down or depressed, she looks at me and my will to live and love of life, and decides her problems aren't much at all. She cries a lot when she looks at me, sometimes. She says she is blessed to have me in her life! I think it's just the opposite! I love watching TV (especially football games!) and learn new words all the time! Maybe at another time, Mom will tell you all about my talking. I think you may like that.
So until later, I will kiss my paw and wave and send loving doggie kisses to everyone!
I bid you happiness and love forever and hope and pray, for everyone, that they have a very happy "Forever Home".
Love and Doggie Kisses,
