Arrival Story:
My Mother and I found her crossing 4 lanes of traffic when I was 13 (in Ohio). I was coming home from piano recital rehearsal and it wasn't a nice part of town. McPug was just this little thing who was stopping traffic crossing the road. I was really touched by her being this little white thing running around by herself... we weren't doggy people at that point. We passed her by, dropped off a friend at home and for some reason my Mother said, "Maybe we should just drive back and see if she's still there." So we drove back to an abandoned gas station where we had seen her. McPug was sitting at the base of a phone booth and someone was using the phone. At first we assumed that the person on the phone decided to stop and call somewhere for her. But then the person hung up the phone, walked away and she stayed sitting right there. We pulled up and I got out. My Mom opened the sliding door to the minivan and somehow McPug just decided she'd hop right in. She doesn't have any fear! We took her home, the neighborhood kids all gathered around and bathed her. Then we got out the encyclopedia to see if we could figure out what kind of dog she was. She was so matted that we had to cut her hair a lot. That week we ran ads that she was "found" but got no response. By that time we had fallen in love with her and secretly hoped that we wouldn't have to part with her. It's been eternal love ever since. We think she's amazing. I think she knows that she might be a little magical, yes.

Bio:
McPug was raised in Ohio and recently has made the move out to sunny L.A. to be with her mommy. She's a California girl now, she's started a whole new life at 14 years old (that's 98 in people years!). *McPug has appeared in 3 plays, she's quite the little stage princess *She likes to hog the camera (see pictures) *Rub her around her ears and she's yours forever. She loves to do this thing where she pushes her head against your hand while you're doing it. It's adorable. At first we thought McPug was a 100% Shih Tzu, since she has a lot of the traits. Over the years however, I've realized that she has to be part Maltese as well. I've done tons of research to try to narrow it down (including looking into Havanese, Coton De Tulear, Bichon, Lhasa, Poodle, etc. for mixed traits), and the Maltese makes the most sense. She's got a ton of white hair and it's curlier than a purebred Shih Tzu. She also doesn't have as much of the snub nose/face of the Shih Tzu. And she's on the smaller side, which would indicate that she has a smaller breed mix. Who knows really. Whatever she is, she's magical. McPug is quite old, about 14 years now. She has gone deaf, has some arthritis problems and most recently, some bronchial problems (she has fluid in her lungs which causes her to hack and cough a lot, especially when she gets excited or drinks lots of water). She's incredible though, because she still has so much youth in her. She acts like a puppy despite those ailments. People are amazed at how old she really is.
