See if we love you....

Upon my arrival back in from a great amount of sunbathing this afternoon, I found an interesting article for all of you dog lovers out there. With scientific evidence, you can now tell if your puppy loves you or not by watching his/her tail! Of course, everyone knew that, but now it's also shown that wagging to one side of the dog's body means something different than the other side.

Cool, huh?

Check out the NY Times article:
If You Want to Know if Spot Loves You So, It’s in His Tail

Of course, I like to mess my humans up by changing things now and then!

That's about it. I've gotta go back to work protecting the house now since my humans are at work and Jack-Jack's at day care.

*SIGH*

Hope they are home soon!

Surprise and Interest

I was so surprised to find out that I was chosen as Diary of the Day last Saturday. I didn't even know this until this morning for I haven't had time to check my paw mail!!

You know, it's hard raising a baby brother!! I seem to have no time for anything.

Thank you for Dogster for choosing me and for all the dogs that wrote me. I appreciate it greatly.

Things have really changed in my life lately. I have gone back to having the house to myself during the day for Jack-Jack has started day care. I can't say that I am thrilled with this idea. I would rather he was at home for me to look after him, but Mom and Dad say I am too young for that responsibility - plus, it doesn't help that I don't have a thumb.

I am very happy that he is happy, though. His 1st day went well, I am told. He did cry when other children cried, but he has never heard that sound before and that response is natural. He ate well, slept well, and was my happy little Jack-Jack.

When he got home I was sure to lick him ALL over to make sure he knew I missed him.

Today is he is 6 months old and so I plan on doing that to him again!!!

SSLLOOOBBBEEERRRR coming your way!

Hogs quarantined after eating tainted pet food> The saga continues with the bad pet food. Instead of getting rid of the tainted food, it looks like it was sent to pig farmers who may have fed it to their hogs. These hogs were slaughtered and are now becoming food for humans.

Isn't this just lovely?

No one is 100% sure, so they are doing tests on the hogs to see if they did, in fact, eat the tainted food.

Scary!

*sigh*

I am now going to go wait for all of my humans to return home to me. I think I will go sunbath for awhile outside. It's so nice to be able to go in and out as I please. They really are rather good to me - God bless 'em.

Ciao my dear canine friends,
~Shamus

Virginia Tech

I would like to take a moment to put it out in cyberspace that my family and my thoughts are with those who lost loved ones in the senseless murders that occurred earlier in the week at Virigina Tech.

VT is my Dad's alma mater, so this one really hit home for him. Luckily, none of Dad's fraternity members were hurt in this incident.

It is a very scary thing. This could happen anywhere at any time.

It's so sad, too. So many lives - young ones too - taken far before their time.

The Victims is an interactive report on each one of the VT victims.

*sigh*

Goodbye Dr. Crane

Well, Fraiser left our family yesterday. He is well, do not think he passed away. No, he was just a rather bad cat. Mom and Dad tried everything they knew to get him to stop pooing and peeing on things, but he would not stop.

The straw that broke the camel's back (what an interesting expression, btw) was when he decided to pee in Jack's bathtub and THEN he thought to poo in Jack's room would be a good idea.

NOPE.

Since Jack is on the floor a lot, it was not a good idea to have an animal that is going to the bathroom on it. So, Daddy took Fraiser back to the Humane Society and explained our situtation.

So, this is a rather sad entry for Mom and Dad feel bad for having to do that, but Jack-Jack comes first.

I'm actually glad...I couldn't stand that cat!!! I miss my Camilla!

Chihuahua or Great Dane? One Gene Sets Dog Size .

I don't think I would have looked very good as a Chihuahua!

Nothing else to report.

Fast, fast and furious

Have you ever noticed how quickly the time goes? I use to think it would take FOREVER for things to happen when I was a pup, but now I just can't seem to keep up.

Things move so quickly now that I am older. You know, I'm 3!

So, I was thinking that today and came across this news article, French train hits new world new speed record.

I think I would puke if I went that fast!!
**************

All is well here. Daddy is recovering from bronchitis and so it i s a good thing he has taken this month off to watch Jack-Jack. Jack-Jack's doing great!! He loves his music lessons with Dad (which comprise of Dad playing guitar and singing to him. I usually sing the chorus).

Frasier is much happier since Mom and Dad got one of those food bowls that dumps food out all the time. I am thinking he will get fat, but not so far.

I hope everyone out there is doing well!!

Trying to catch up with things

Interesting things in the news:

1) In Australia a toad was found and this toad was as BIG as a small dog!!! Can you imagine? The thing weighed 2 lbs!!!!!! UNREAL!!

Monster Toad

2) Put your mutt mug on the internet!! MSNBC has a place where we, mutts, can show our fancy selfs and discuss what we should be called.

One-of-a-kind Pooches

Mom is going to put a picture of me up there soon.

3) This is a VERY sad note, but one that people must be aware of due to the food recall. Experts are stating that more deaths from the pet foods, that were recalled, are likely.

More deaths from pet food are likely>

I don't get any of the food that was recalled, but Aunt Penny and Aunt Dusty do. However, we checked and there food was not one of the ones recalled. Still scary, though!!!

So, take care of yourselves!!

****************
Well, Grandmama is back in PA. Mom took her back last week and so I had to help Dad keep Jack-Jack and Frasier in line.

Jack-Jack is doing great!!! He's growing so fast!! I can hardly believe how fast time is going. He's such a sweetie. I get to go for a walk with him every day after Mommy gets home.

It's bunny season, too. So, on every walk we see at least 2 bunnies!!!

Frasier is driving Mom and Dad nutters because he seems to like to poo and pee on the carpet when he doesn't get his food when he thinks he should get it.

SO...we are dealing with that.....

Hope everyone is well!!

Turtle soup?

March 14th 2007 8:24 am

How could a fellow canine eat a turtle? Why? Why would you eat a small turtle?

Live turtle retrieved from retriever's tummy.

Did the turtle say or do something to upset the dog?

Even so, does that give the dog the right to eat the turtle?

Did the dog think "Oh, good the human loves me and left me turtle soup in the bathtub?"

I'm not really sure, but I am glad that the turtle made it out okay.

****************

Well, things here are going along well. The other night my humans took Jack-Jack, Grandma and I to the beach for a walk. It was Jack's first trip to the beach and I don' t think he knew what to make of it. He did enjoy watching me run from the waves. I thought that was fun.

I did actually let my paws get wet, though. That was a first.

Dad and Mom were very proud.

I hope we go to the beach more now.

Outside of that the only other thing I have been working on is keeping my furry brother, Frasier, from doing bad things. Whenever he meows I figure he is doing something wrong and I got make sure he stops.

He's a bad kitty.

I'm glad Mom and Dad saved him, but he has to learn the rules of the house.

Hope everyone is doing well!

is upon me. i have been trying to write more, but i just can't seem to find the time. i have been busy helping grandma with jack-jack and keeping that cat, frasier in line.

that is turing out to be difficult.

he keeps trying to break out of the house by using my door that was placed in the slider for ME!!!

i am highly annoyed.

mom is upset that he will get out and get lost.

i can't believe how silly he is being.

he has NO claws at all and can't see from 1 eye that well.

why would you want to go back outside?

should be a good weekend with mom, dad, jack-jack and grandma.

grandma will be leaving in a couple of weeks and i will miss her something awful. i am NOT looking forward to that.

i'm gonna miss dusty too.

*sigh*

well, have a good weekend!!!

love ya,
~Shamus

Happiness - yes spelled with an I and not a Y, like the movie

March 2nd 2007 5:13 am

That bothers me...that they spelled it incorrectly for now others will spell it with a Y instead of an I.

At any rate, I'm a very happy dog. I have a good family and I adore my Jack-Jack more than anything.

I'm still not sure of that cat, Frasier, but.....

There is a great article on the Scientific American website that discusses the studies of what makes us happy. Of course, there is NO answer given in the article, for it is really to each individual's decision on what makes them happy, but it is food for thought.

I therefore am listing the things I am most happy for today and things I am NOT.

THINGS THAT MAKE ME HAPPY (not in any type of order, mind you)

1) Walks!
2) Treats!
3) Petting and Brushing
4) Sunbathing
5) Having my family around me
6) Car rides
7) Jack-Jack
8) Dusty, Grandma's cat
9) Tennis Balls
10) BUNNIES!
11) Cat food -YUMMY
12) My bed
13) Human food - although I don't get much of it, but it does make me happy
14) Howling at sirens
15) Being told I am a good and smart dog

THINGS THAT MAKE ME NOT HAPPY!

1) Thunderstorms
2) Other dogs barking at me
3) People and other animals that don't like me
4) Thunderstorms
5) Not being taken for walks
6) When Jack-Jack cries
7) When I am punished for eating cat food
8) When it rains and I can't go sunbath
9) Thunderstorms
10) When I can't get up on the bed

(Can't Get No) Satisfactionarticle

Have a wonderful weekend!!

HHHOOOWWWLLL at that full moon!
