Raspberry truffle and Golden's don't go....

Well fellow Pooches...Mom didn't kill us!!! (for digging up her rose bushes. Although, it was touch and go there for a little while.

Summer has been absolutely wonderful! We're getting so much bigger and we've had one adventure after another and we've learned an awful lot.....the biggest lesson we've learned is that raspberry truffle and gold...don't mix.

Mom and Dad decided that this year the outside color of the decks around the house needed to be changed from forest green...to raspberry truffle. So, Maggie and I got our first real lesson in home renovations.

Turns out that stuff in those big cans they used to change the colour...doesn't smell all that bad, as a matter of fact, it smells pretty darn good. ..and these cans all have handles. As soon as Maggie saw them she remembered how much help she had been to Mom when she used to carry the feed buckets back from the barn to the house for her, when Tbone an Porterhouse were living in the barn. Maggie was very excited and thought that this home renovation thing might be something she could be really good at. So, she just walked right over and picked up the can by it's handle and took it to the back door when she used to bring the other buckets for Mom. Mom saw her and screamed "Maggie NOOOOO!"....Maggie, being the wonderful Golden that she is ..stopped and turned to look at Mom with her adoring eyes and her wildly wagging tail...then Mom grabbed her by the colour and made a big mistake. Mom tried to grab the handle of the can out of Maggie's mouth!!..and Maggie pulled back.....and the next thing you know Mom was on the ground with red stuff all over her..and Maggie was running across the yard, still holding her handle, with red stuff splashing out of it. I realized how much fun I was missing out on....and I had to chase after Maggie...when I caught up to her ..she stood up on her back legs and lunged towards me, hitting me with her chest and then she dropped the handle. All that red stuff started splahishing all over the place and there was a big puddle of it on the ground...but Maggie came at me again and we started wrestling , and I got Maggie into a headlock and we fell over onto the ground. .....right into all that red stuff.

YUP, you got it.....we got ourselves in BIG trouble with Mom...again.
She grabbed the two of us, put us both back on our leashes and hosed us down...she was saying alot of words that we didn't know..and they really didn't sound very nice.

It's not so bad though. It's three weeks later and all the red stuff is almost completely gone from our fur now. Maggie had to go to the groomer to get the paint matts taken out her fur and me? I have two lovely red toenails!!! So the biggest thing we learned this summer is that raspberry truffle and Golden's don't go.

Maggie hasn't said anything yet...but I'll keep you posted.

Soooo....whatta you all think of our Easter Bunny impressions? Pretty good huh? We didn't mind Mommy sticking those pink ears on our heads cause we were getting treat after treat to get us to sit still long enough to get the picture taken. We're not sure if Mommy's losing her mind...or if she has some "aunty Shelley" traits she's been hiding from us. She better not think she's going to be making a habit out of dressing us up.

Looks like spirng might be on it's way, finally. It's been a very long winter and we've had alot of wind and snow. We don't like the wind and we do NOT like the cold. It's much nicer, and much warmer on the couch. The snow's not too bad....it's fun to roll and run around and jump in..you can ask Gracie about the jumping part ....she figured out how to jump off the patio into the big bank of snow in the back yard. Mom almost had a heart attack cause when she looked out the big window in the living room Gracie was in mid air. But Gracie's fine...*G*...Mom said....."a little nuts..but fine".

We've done alot of growing over the winter. We're big girls now. We're 18 months old . We've gotten taller and we've put on weight and our coats are growing in gorgeously. Maggie is a real retriever...she retrieves anything she can find, even if she's not supposed to have it, but she always brings whatever she's got to Mom, so she's been a really good girl that way. Gracie. on the other hand, retrieves just fine, and comes to show you what she's got...but you have to be fast to catch her to get whatever she has from her before she shreds it!

*sigh*....after spring are the long, lazy dog days of summer. We can't wait!!!

Till Next TIme....

Hi Everybody!!

It's been awhile since we've posted we figured that Chritmas would be a fine time to catch up.

It's been a really strange couple of weeks. There's been alot going on but so far, it's all good. Mom and Dad took us out into the woods to cut down our very own Christmas tree. When we got home we got put outside in the yard for a long time. But when we came back in....WOW....the tree was in our house, it was covered in blinking lights and there were all these shiny balls all over the tree. Maggie was a little scared at first, but I wasn't. There was also this stuff called "garland" , and I, ... being as nosey as I am, just happened to notice that it was hanging down under the tree.

I CROSS MY HEART AND SWEAR that I was just trying to help....anyways, to make a long story short....I pulled, everything started jingling and clinking and crashing... I ran and forgot to let go, Dad caught the tree, Mom screamed and then Mom counted 27 broken ornaments. Including Mom and Dad's... "First Christmas Together" ornament from 1986....it was 20 years old. My Mom was NOT happy.

I was hoping Mom wouldn't be able to find me, but it seems I got such a fright that I forgot to drop the garland and ran all the way down the hallway dragging it behind me and I guess it was sorta sticking out from under the bed. I REALLY thought I was in alot of trouble when Mom pulled me out from under her bed. But I just kissed her, gave her my "special" hug and rolled over to get my belly rubbed. Mom was ok after that..but I don't see what the fuss was all about with that stupid ornament anyways. Me and Mags only got here last Christmas....

Mom says we're growing into two absolutely beautiful girls. We've gotten taller on our legs and our coats are starting to grow in beautifully, too. We've tried our very best to behave *laughing*....but you know how things are. It's just one of those things that isn't always possible....and boy oh boy, are we glad that Santa understands 1 yr olds.

We woke up Christams morning to ALL kinds of stuff in our stockings!..and...Me and Mags, and our big brother, Riley, got these HUGE Dino bones. Ho Ho Holy COW!!!...Santa must have spent alot of time hunting to get three bones THAT big.....we've spent all Christmas out in the yard chewing on them!!

Anyways, that's it for now. We hope that you all had a Merry Christmas and we wish you all a very happy and prosperous 2007!!

We'll write again soon!!
Love and kisses
Grace and Maggie.

ps...Mom says she'll get some new pictures of us up after the holidays.

We got MAIL!

Hiya everybody!!

It's us again, Maggie & Grace and we had a GREAT day!! We got our first mail delivery. It was from one of our Auntie's in Ontario! She sent us two rawhide bones (cause we do such a GREAT job messing up our Mommy's house. How great is that...??

We were telling her in our thank you email about what good girls we are. We love to help our Mommy pick up rocks and sticks in the yard, and we help her when she feeds the cows by carrying the feed buckets back to the shed, and we help her by digging in the sawdust to help spread it all around.

One of our greatest discoveries this summer has been dirt..,, digging holes!...and we're sooooo good at it too! Teamwork really does work...the digging goes alot faster and the mud gets all over us alot better, when there are 4 paws digging! Mom says we're almost to China!!...and Dad's having a coniption fit cause there are craters in the yard! *LOL* :) We get so wet and muddy sometimes that Mom has to bring us down to the river to go swimming to get the mud off of us off before she'll let us come back into the house.

Well, that's it for now. We've had a very busy day..all that digging and bucket carrying can really tucker two gals out... we're two very tired pups!

Lots of hugs and puppy kisses to you all!!

We'll write again real soon!!

Maggie & Grace!

MUD and puddles and sticks and Puddles and rocks and PUDDLES! What puppies could ask for anything more? We've just been having so much fun!! and our walk times have just about doubled now that all the snow is gone! Daddy takes us running at lunchtime and late at night and our human brother takes us out to play in the yard after he gets home from school andMommy takes us out for a run after breakfast in the morning and after supper in the evening and we can run and run and run and run...and we do!! Mommy's always laughingat us because when we go for our walks we LOVE to carry things in our mouths. This morning Gracie found a Tim Horton's coffee cup and she carried it all the way home!!

Mommy says we're getting BIG!!...we're almost 7 months old now and she says that we're her two gorgeous good girls!.....we're pretty good at listening now....except when we find puddles...*LOL*.....then Mom says we're two drowned rats.

Did we mention we like puddles?? SPRING!! GLORIUS SPRING!!

The BIGGEST Snowstorm EVER!

OH MY GOD!! We've been having SOOO much fun!! We had the hugest snowstorm ever last weekend and we've been having the time of our lives out jumping and playing in all the snowdrifts. Funny thing about snowdrifts, though...they fool you into thinking that you can run right over them like a hill....but as soon as you try....WHOOMPF!.....you sink and stop dead.

Only one problem so far, though...our toes are webbed in between and when we go outside to play the snow gets all caught up in little snowballs in between our toes and we have to stop playing to chew them out But that doesn't stop us for long.

Another really good thing about snow is that it brings out all the little snowbirds. Mommy has birdfeeders outside on the patio to feed them. We sit and watch them through the window or through the patio door for hours, and we cry our little hearts out, ..but they don't want to play with us. Everytime Mommy lets us go out on the patio they fly away. Mom says not to worry about it thought....they don't like our cat brother Casey either....*G* Maybe they'll want to be our friends someday soon.

Mom is SOOOO Proud of us!!

We're definately in the good books now!! 4 straight nights and no accidents in the house. We've had no accidents inside during the daytime for a while now....nights have been a little harder, but we think we've got it now.... Mom is just beside herself with pure glee! She gets up in the morning and she kisses us and hugs us and tells us how good we are and tells us we're her beeeeyooootiful girls !

Other than that things have been going really well in puppyland. We've had some really nice days and we've had lots of fun outside playing in the snow. We have made a discovery that we're not too sure about....see, there was always this very enticing smell coming from somewhere in the back yard...we figured out it was coming from behind the green barn....cowpoop..and that was one of our very favorite places to go!! Anyways, the other day we learned a very valuable lesson. We learned that if you got a pile of cowpoop, you gotta have cows....and we found them..inside the barn! Porterhouse and Tbone....and they're big suckers, too. We ran in when Daddy was bringing hay inside for them... the door was open just enough for us to squeeze in, ...we scared the hell out of them..they scared the hell out of us...and we took off running, and yelping across the yard to find our Mommy as fast as we could. YUP...we're thinking it might be a really good idea to stay outside the barn from now on.
