   Leave a bone for Skylar

Sky, Bette Davis, Marshmellow

Doggie Dynamics:
not playfulvery playful

Sun Sign:
Quick Bio:

June 3rd 2001

Belly Rubs, doesn't everyone? Praise is great. I'm easy going.

Rain, Kiara (her fur sister) stealing her food

Favorite Toy:
Not into toys, I'm a lounger. Perhaps a pillow is my favorite, since I lay on them all the time.

Favorite Food:
Peanut Butter- but I'm not a begger. Food is not my thing.

Favorite Walk:
I prefer to be carried, but a walk is okay.

Best Tricks:
sit and down (and I can sort of twirl, but not on my hind legs) . . . tricks aren't my thing. But I'll watch anyone else's tricks.

Arrival Story:
My Mom was looking for a dog. She wanted a Tibetan Spaniel. She knew of a breeder who had 2 litters born on the same day. One litter was a black and white parti litter. The other was a tan/red parti litter. I was with Mom when she was looking at these Tibbies. 2 dogs stood out to me, a black and white dog who bacame my Dawson, and a blue eyed girl. What was really amazing was she didn't bark, she MEOWED!! I adored her sweet disposition. However, she was already claimed by someone in Canada. I got Dawson and Mom got Kai-Li. I would ask the breeder about the blue eyed girl anytime she called to check in on how our puppies were transitioning. Well, to make a long story shorter, 9/11 happened and Skylar couldn't go to Canada. So she became available again. My mother knew that my dog Tai-Pan wouldn’t be around forever. He was getting old. She also knew Dawson needed a companion. Also a dog that could run like Daws could. (Tai was on wheels, he couldn’t run like he used to). So I got an early Christmas gift: Skylar! She was the sister dog to Mom’s dog, Kai-Li. (What's cute is Dawson and Skylar are both the runts of their litters! And they both have the same birthday too! June 3, 2001.) Skylar was the perfect fit for Dawson. She gets along better with Dawson than she does with her own litter mate sister, Kai-Li! It was a match made in heaven.

Named Skylar, because of her sky blue eyes. She meows and cries like a cat. She loves cats too. Maybe she thinks she is one. Also, Tibetan Spaniels should have brown eyes. She has blue, a huge fault in the breed. However, I see them as Bette Davis eyes. She just gives you this incredible look, just like she did. Dawson and Skylar are best of friends. And they became very close when Tai-Pan passed. Sky is laid back and quiet. She loves belly rubs. Food (unlike Tai-Pan, Kiara or Dawson) is not the world for her. It’s hard to motivate her with anything but praise or a belly rub. She loves to make you happy. She and Dawson will chase each other around sometimes. Now and then she plays, but only on the winning side. She watches Kiara, Dawson and Arwen play. Once she sees someone starting to go down, she joins the winning side and helps them. (She's not into hard work, the easiest route is best). She’s very mellow. She's perfectly happy lounging. She gets into trouble only because she follows it. Dawson just has a nose for trouble and she is his shadow. But you can just give her a look and she lowers her head. Dawson you can jump, scold, shame, and he still has his silly grin on his face. She is also so polite. She asks if she can jump on the couch first. Dawson just jumps up and plops down. Skylar looks at you and you have to tell her it's okay then she jumps up happily and cuddles with you. She's such the lady. Skylar is the most gentle, quiet and soft dog I know. She's an absolute doll baby.

Yes, can you believe I'm now 8 years old!!! Wow. I'm feeling old. But so is Dawson! Haha! It's fun sharing a birthday with him even though we aren't from the same litter.

It's yucky outside. It cool and rainy. I hate the rain. What a terrible birthday gift. I was hoping for a wlak or going to the store for treats, but not with all this rain. I'm going to try and avoid going outside as much as possible.

Just give me belly rubs and peanut butter, or chicken. I love chicken!

Terrible weather yesterday

It was so rainy and windy. I hated it. The snow almost all melted and mud was left in it's place. And the wind howled. It was awful. Amadeus almost blew over. I hope today is much better.

We had some mild days and yesterday was a reminder that it's still winter! Yuck! It got in the mid to high 50s. And now it'll be mid to low 40s. I enjoyed it while I had it though. I can't wait for spring to start. I want to go on walks again and see all the pretty flowers.

Shaky but getting better

Well this stroke was not on my list of things to do. But I had a thorough examination. I've a clean bill of health. Nothing is wrong with me, except the stroke. The stroke caused my brain to swell and so I have neurological problems. I can't walk right, I am relearning stuff like sit, eating without falling over, going up and down stairs, just normal stuff.

Mommy and Daddy have been good to me. They've made me feel loved no matter what. They're also my physical therapists. They are helping me walk and do all the things I usually do. they're very protective of me right now. I think Kiara is just happy to have the attention off of her for a while. (She's on 8 weeks of bed rest AGAIN.)

I'm slowly getting better. We don't know how much of a recovery I'll get and it could take days or weeks. But the outcome looks positive.

Thank you everyone for your support, emails, paw-rayers, power of the paw and rosettes. It helps me stay postive about the whole ordeal.

I'm sure I'll be as good as new.

Batting of the eyes,
