I say my good friends here on Dogster and I do a roadtrip to Philadelphia and give Mr. Vick a proper welcome back to the NFL!!! We can all show him our lovely lip-curled, teeth showing smiles. And then the Fists of Fury!!!! I also hear there's some good cheesesteaks in Philly so the trip will serve a dual purpose. Who's with me???

Remember me??

Hi folks, remember me? Louie? True love of Sunny Lee, excuse me, Sunny, and food critic extraordinaire?? My mother claims to be too busy with other things to type the piles of dictation that I give her. Maybe I should contact Raffles at the Bridge and send it to "Flying Paws Dictation". They wouldn't let me down. Anyway's, on to our show:

First of all, Baja Fish Taco-Long John Silver's, Taylor, Michigan. The Baja Fish Taco is a piece of fried fish, lettuce, cheese and baja sauce, which is a spicy ranch, all on a tortilla. Let me tell ya folks, it doesn't sound like much but the Baja Sauce brings everything together to make this a very special treat. You get the cool of the lettuce and cheese mixed with the tanginess of the baja sauce and the crispiness of the fish in every bite. And the fish never gets soggy. Delish!!! 3 out of 4 paws!

Second, last night grandpa gave me a ham bone. Good man, good man! Anyways, he handed it to me, I snatched it out of his hand before he could change his mind. I turned to run and hide with it because if Madame President sees me eating a bone it will be taken away in quick fashion. When I made the turn the bone slipped out of my mouth and hit my little foot!! I cried for a minute. Then I had a decision to make: Do I keep crying, drawing Mom's attention, or do I hide and enjoy my tasty treat. I'm sure you can guess which I chose. Mom didn't even know about the bone until I was almost done!!! Love that grandpa!

Third, and you're not going to believe this, my mother is going to the "Downriver Chamber of Commerce Annual Grub Crawl" tonight! This is where 12 restaraunts put out food for those attending to sample. 12 restaraunts!!!! Perfect opportunity for a little dog to catch up on his reviewing. And all at one time! Do you think she's taking me? Heck no! She says there's some stupid rule about no dogs, and even if dogs could go you have to be 21 to attend. You know what I say? This is bulls**t! The woman won't even eat half the food they put out, she doesn't eat seafood AT ALL, and she'll be full before they even get to like, the fourth restaraunt. So what if it's a social/hanging out with friends kind of thing. I have a job to do, I owe it to my public to attend such an event, don't you think?

OK folks, I gotta go. I'm trying to work on a disguise so I can attend the Grub Crawl without my mom catching me. Maybe a hat with hair sticking out the sides and some sunglasses, we'll see. PEACE!!

I need to become a service dog

I need to become a service dog, folks. I think it's a load of crap that I can't go everywhere my mom goes. "No dogs allowed, Louie" she says. Like tonight, my Aunt Wendy, Jeffy and Jared are going to a Detroit Tigers game at Comerica Park in Detroit. They have one extra ticket. I don't see why I can't go. As a food critic I think it is very important that I go. I need to sample the hot dogs, pizza, cotton candy. I also hear they have a restaraunt in there!!! AND there is a ferris wheel for us kids! Know what my mom says? "No dogs allowed, Louie." I need to get the proper certification so I can go anywhere I want, whether SHE wants me to or not! She is unfair and mean. Anyways, have a great weekend everybody. I can see mine's off to a GREAT start. PEACE!!!!

She should be more careful! That's what I say.

Mom went to the dentist yesterday. From here on out I will be referring to the dentist as Uncle John, because he's also my mom's uncle. Anyways, she got her teeth cleaned for the first time in like, 2 years. When the hygienist (mom's cousin Lynn) did the front she noticed an abcess. An X-ray was done. The nerve is dead. Mom needs a root canal. The first one in her 38 years!! She hasn't even had a cavity in over 20 years!! She couldn't believe it! Uncle John says to her "Have you ever been hit in the mouth, like a car accident or something? Sometimes the nerve takes years to die, so it could have happened years ago." Mom says "No, I've never hit my mouth on anything......" then her mind flashes to my younger years, when Jimmy and I were still young lads. More than once her mouth has met with the hard head of a dog. More than once a hard rubber pull toy has been swung into mom's mouth. As a matter of fact, one time we were playing and I gave her a fat lip!!! Not that I'm taking the blame for her mouth trauma, I'm just saying. Anyways, gotta go. Moms, be careful!! PEACE!!!

Chicken McNuggets, McDonalds, Southgate, Michigan and The- Chicken Fajita Roll-up, Applebee's, Southgate, Michigan

I recently had the opportunity to try the Chicken McNuggets at McDonalds, as they were 10 for 2.00 and my mom is a cheap-o. Upon ordering them I discovered you get a choice of sauces, I tried them with the honey mustard and sweet and sour. The McNuggets themselves were fresh out of the fryer, crispy on the outside and nice and hot on the inside. Once you dip them in honey mustard it is like a flavor explosion!! The Chicken McNugget with sweet and sour sauce is pure retro-food. By retro-food I mean that's the way my mom used to eat them when she was a teenager like, a million years ago or something. I found comfort in the sweet and sour sauce, it would be a perfect treat for just lounging around and taking it easy. All in all, the Chicken McNuggets get 3 out of 4 stars.

The Chicken Fajita Roll-up from Applebee's: seasoned chicken, rolled into a large tortilla with monterrey jack and cheddar cheese, lettuce, tomato, and pico de gallo. On the side there is a Mexi-Ranch dipping sauce. My dear mother had the foresight to get me a side of guacamole with it also. Good girl. There is a seasoning in the chicken, they say chipotle, that reminds me of chorizo, the chicken is grilled in it. When I took a bite of this little gem, topped with guacamole and just a hint of Mexi-Ranch, I stopped dead. Then chewed ever so slowly, so as to savor every single bite. I think a tear escaped my eye. When I finished I walked up to my mom and said "Perfect, just perfect" and gave her a hug and kiss. S0metimes she gets it right. 4 out of 4 stars!!! My only complaint is that grandma thought she should share it with me, she's so greedy.

By the way, mom and I took some treat out to Jimmy's grave last night and talked to him and said a little prayer. Mom put the treats down and said "Here you go, Foo" (She used to call him FooFoo or Foo, due to his fluffiness) She spoke to him a little and guess what I did? I ate the treats! I know he would want me to have them, I just know it! Mom said "You're so RUDE!" Whatever. That's how it was when he was alive, we'd steal each other's treats all time! PEACE!!!

4 years

Well folks, it's been 4 years today since my brother Jimmy went to the Bridge. Boy, I miss that guy!! But now that I see all the great friends he has up there I don't feel so bad. Seems like they have a pretty good time up there! But I still miss him, mom does too. We both feel bad that he didn't get to come live at grandma and grandpa's with us. He would have loved this, kids up and down the street, my cousins coming over and playing in the yard, grandma making us our meals and feeding them to us lovingly. He would have been grandpa's full time partner out in the yard!!! And he would have definitely been helping me with my food reviews. And making me share my chaisse lounge!!! Anyways, me and mom are going to go in the yard where he is buried tonight and put flowers and some treats out there, say a little prayer, shed a few tears. Then later I will go sneak the treats, hehehe. Here's to you big guy!!!! I sure do miss you "Chubbers"!!

Interesting, very interesting indeed

This past weekend Wyandotte had it's annual street art fair. My mom's employer had a booth there. They were passing out stuff to the passers-by. One of the items was a helium balloon for the children. Well, they came in to work this morning and it seems one of the helium balloons got away, it was found in this lady's yard. She googled mom's work and discovered that they were in Wyandotte, Michigan. She just wanted to let them know that their name is really getting out there. Guess where she lived?! PENNSYLVANIA!!!! Which makes me wonder, how many helium balloons do you think it would take to lift 80 pounds and carry a little dog to Pennsylvania?? I was so caught up in the cost of airfare or train tickets that I never thought of the simplest solution. Helium. Sunny, here I come!!!!

Chicken Crisper Taco-Chili's, Southgate, Michigan and Pulled- Pork Sammiches, Grandpa's House, Wyandotte, Michigan

The Chicken Crisper Taco from Chili's consists of breaded chicken, lettuce, cheese, pico de gallo and some spicy ranch sauce. Folks, I'm not kidding you when I tell you that this is a treat that should NOT be missed!! There is some kind of sweetness to the ranch sauce that I cannot quite put my finger on, but it pulls the whole taco together. The chicken is perfectly cooked and sliced into edible size pieces and distributed evenly throughout the taco. When topped with guacamole it will make you swoon!! 4 out of 4 paws!! Seriously, it was that good!!

Now, pulled pork sammiches at grandpa's. My grandpa slow cooked a pork roast for hours, seasoned it with salt, pepper and garlic, let it cool a bit, tore it into little shreds and then added barbeque sauce and some brown sugar to it. He then proceeded to heat it for a little while longer. The extra heating allows the barbeque sauce mixture to infuse itself with the pork. You then put it on a bun and have at it!!! I gotta tell you folks, my grandpa should get awards for his cooking! It's that good, really. When grandma fed it to me I took a bite, I stopped to savor it, and I swear a tear escaped my little eye. 4 out of 4 stars!!!

OK, that all being said, I have to tell you what happened yesterday. I was sleeping on my chaisse lounge, having a lovely dream about running in a field with my sweet Sunny Lee. There was a part of the dream where we came upon a pond, perfect for a romantic mid-day dip. I yell "CANNONBALL!!!" and proceed to jump into the pond. The next thing I know my little fanny had slid off of the chaisse lounge! I reach for the only the only thing I see, which is grandma's leg, she is sleeping on the couch that is attached to the chaisse lounge. I reach for it, clawing frantically. "Grandma, HELP!!!" I yell. My little butt fell into a box that was sitting by the couch and I couldn't get out. "Get up woman, help me!!!" She stirs, confused at what she is feeling on her leg. She looks down and sees her sweet little grandson struggling to get back on the couch. You know how you've heard stories of amazing feats of adrenaline driven strength? Like when a grandma lifts a car off of her grandbaby?? That was my grandma! She stuck her foot under my little butt and puuushed me back up onto the chaisse lounge. Safe at last! She checked to make sure I was OK, I was, I just wanted to get back to my dream about Sunny. I begged her not to tell mom, she didn't listen. Guess what my mom did? Laughed, that's right, she laughed. She's such a b*tch. I think I will have my cousin Jared look into installing rails on the sides of my chaisse lounge so I don't have to suffer this trauma ever again. Although I bet my mom wishes she could see it for herself!! Mean. Gotta go. Happy 4th of July everyone. Be safe and PEACE!!!
