Birthday: May 21st 2005 Likes: Playing with his Mama, of course! But he LOVES my cousin LeAnn too. He knows her name and anytime he hears it, he starts looking for her! He loves it when she gives him some attention! He likes LeAnn's little Chi (Pixie) too. They are great pals! Pet-Peeves: Interrupting him while he's doing something! Favorite Toy: ALL of them! No matter how often I put his toys in his toy box, the next thing I know he has dragged ALL of them out again! Favorite Food: Popcorn, Flint River Ranch Drywater & Kibble, Carrots, French Fries, Cheese, Nylabone Edibles, Greenies, Piggy Twists, Meat, Mama's Homemade Doggie Cookies, & Peanut Butter Favorite Walk: In our yard - it's big! Best Tricks: His ONLY trick is "Sit"! Arrival Story: I wanted a friendly small dog and I searched on the Internet for a breed that would be compatible with me and my lifestyle. I used the dog breed selector on the Animal Planet's website and they matched me up with (among others) a Japanese Chin. I read every detail I could find about Chins and realized this would be the perfect dog for me.
When I saw Gizmo I fell in love with his picture. He was so fluffy and cute! He came from a breeder in Oklahoma and had to fly down.
Chins are wonderful little dogs with huge personalities and Gizmo turns heads wherever we go - even though they usually have no idea what breed he is! Most people (including my Vet) have never seen a Japanese Chin before.
Gizmo is my joy and I'm very happy he has come to live with us! Bio: When Gizmo was younger, if you pulled out a camera he would sit and freeze! He loved to pose for the camera because he knew he'd get a treat afterwards. He doesn't do it so much anymore - I guess it's getting boring!
He does those little "chin spins" (a trait that is famous with this breed) too - sort of. He will jump and spin in mid-air instead! Simple ground "chin spins" just aren't his style.
Every night, right before bedtime, he gets really hyper and runs all over the place like crazy - jumping on and off the furniture and throwing his toys around.
I called him Gizmo because I think he looks like the real Gizmo - but he acts like a Gremlin sometimes too. No after midnight feedings for him! He's really very sweet and playful, but sometimes when he's aggravated he makes this strange growl - it kind of sounds like he's growling underwater! He never does it with me, but when he was younger all my husband would have to do is touch him and Gizmo would start his "Gremlin" growling!
Paige & LeAnn (teenage sister and cousin) love to aggravate him on purpose just to get him to make his strange growl!
Gizmo also LOVES scrunchies! If you have one in your hair he'll pull, tug & play growl until he gets it free and then he runs away with it like he just won a big prize! When you're sitting on the sofa, he'll climb on the back of it to get behind you so he can reach your scrunchie. I've given him some of his own to play with, but he likes them better if it is in your hair. I guess he wants the challenge of pulling them out! Forums Motto: I LOVE to jump and spin in mid-air! I got to go outside without that dratted leash today! Man, let me tell ya, it was COOL! I ran all over the place and 'round & 'round in circles - it was SO much fun!
Mama kept yelling at me, it sounded like "come back" or "not so far". I pretended I didn't hear her - she thinks all I know is "sit". But just when I found something really interesting on the ground, Mama tricked me and starting telling me to "sit" instead.
Man, if that don't beat all! I had to keep up the act, ya know? So I sat and Mama snatched me up and brought me back inside!
And boy am I pooped! All that running left me wore out. I'm all for crawling into my bed and getting a little cat-nap (btw - what's a cat?)!
I had tons of fun, but I wish I would've seen those ducks I hear quacking all the time, 'cause I would really LOVE to play with them! They would've liked me too (who doesn't?) - I just know it!
Later!
P.S.
Mama took some pictures of me having fun outside and posted them here for everyone to admire!
