Swimming is both Scary and Fun

I can swim!

This is how I discovered my new skill: I was over Uncle Chris's house, and there was this GIANT POOL there. Now, this pool completely dwarfed the little blue kiddie pool I have at home. I had to check it out. I climbed the steps up to the pool deck. I leaned over to sniff the liquid... yep water, and lots of it! There were kids in this water, and they looked like they were having fun. I heard Aunt Linda ask Mommy, "He won't go in, will he?" I didn't wait for Mommy's answer... I kept leaning over and jumped right in.

WOW that was such a weird feeling! I was falling slowly and I couldn't hear right, so I started paddling with my paws and finally got my head above water. It was SO DEEP I couldn't touch the bottom!!!! I heard Mommy yell, "Is he swimming? Is he swimming?" Is that what this was called....?

I admit I panicked at first and paddled over to the side of the pool. I gripped the metal side with my front paws but couldn't pull myself out of the water... I was stuck. By this time I could see Mommy on the pool deck, then suddenly Uncle Billy picked me up by my armpits and lifted me out.

Boy was I wet!!!! It took a lot of shaking and playing frisbee to dry me off. I really wanted to explore that giant pool again, but after my big splash they closed the gate to the pool deck. :o(
