Goodbye Tucker

Tucker went to his forever home yesterday. We had him with us since September and he was a great dog! He was a bit goofy and his whole body wagged when his tail wagged. It'll seem quiet in our house for a while, but maybe a little less hectic. Hopefully this will free up some extra time for the humans to throw me the ball and frisbee!!! Goodbye and good luck Tucker. You are a swell boy.

Liz's blog: our visit to Ewe-Topia

Yesterday we spent most of our time at this farm, Ewe-topia in Roy. We've had Flower for almost 4 years in October and I've always wondered how'd she do at what Australian Cattle Dogs are meant to do, herding.

She was awesome. She was a little spitfire and bossed the sheep around like a champ. It's so weird seeing her personality change as she kicks into prey drive and starts herding like it's nobody else's business. She constantly was on the sheep, never stopped to sniff sheep poop (which a lot of the dogs seem to love), never looked timid and always seemed to know what to do as soon as it happened. As soon as a sheep would stray about 5 feet away she'd circle it and move it back to its group by nipping at it's heels. She never once went at a sheep's face. The handler started working on making her circle the sheep in the opposite direction. After one mistake and being shooshed away with a long stick of bamboo, Flower would automatically turn and circle the other way as soon as the cane came out. Amazing. I was proud.

We had our first class yesterday. I got to walk a plank on the ground, then a raised plank, showed off my sit's and down's on a table, walked through a barrell and a tunnel, jumped some PVC pipe obstacles and walked on a wobbley board. I did really well and our instructor says I'm a natural! :) Homework is learning to touch a "target" with my nose. After I learn that then we start using it at the end of obstacles so I don't have to be lured (or bribed) with a treat the entire way...until I touch my target. We're not going to be doing any clicker training, as I enjoy verbal praise and markers from my Liz much more.

5 more weeks. I think I like it!

almost the month of May...

Well lots of new things going on. First and foremost my humans have entered me into the "Year of the Dog" contest and we're excited to have that opportunity and can't wait for our free photo of me. :D

We've found a forever home for our current foster dog, Tellie, and she'll be leaving to live with them on Wednesday. After that ALL eyes are on me and I get to start Intro to Agility classes middle of May. Can't wait.

CAN WAIT: I have my annual vet appointment this coming Monday. Tellie and I get to go in together so maybe we'll have a little fun getting poked and prodded together. One last Hoorah before we say our goodbyes.

WOOF,
Flower

Nevermind!

I guess I was wrong when I said there were no more dogs to chase after MY tennis balls. The humans have gone and done it again!! A new foster dog is here with us named Tellie. She's a little squirrely but she's just a little faster than me and that is not good for my fetch game!

Adios Bandito!

Woof woof! Our latest foster dog, Bandit, is going to his forever home tomorrow!!! I will be a little sad, but now I'll be spoiled again, and no other doggies to chase after MY tennis balls! ;) No, I will be very sad. Bandit has been the best dog we could ask for to come into our home and Liz and Jordan had to try really hard to stay motivated to adopt him out and not keep him for themselves. He's perfect in every way, and the home they've found for him is just as perfect. He will live a long, happy, spoiled life with Jay, Alyne, the dachshund, Lola the ACD, and the two cockatiels. Mission accomplished, we loveee rescue dogs.

update on Dodger, the foster...

Okay, scratch that last comment in the last diary entry.

Dodger, the foster dog is now more confident and can run faster (he is bigger than me!) than me, and will try and snatch my tennis ball right before I get to it.

He's also cattle dog wrestling/playing with me. FINALLY, someone who is as rambunctious as me, and understands my play style. Charlie D. Cat doesn't appreciate me trying to play with her, and I'm happy to have a dog friend in the home. I'm helping to teach Dodger how to bark, how to stop barking, and how to sit.

new nickname...

New nickname...

Barka Lotta Ding Dong. I bark like CRAZY when I even suspect someone is at our front door. There is no doorbell at our front door here, so I am the canine ding dong.

Mom has been calling me FloBee One Kanobee. I've also been known to answer to Barky McBarkster...

-----
Also, Mom has been fostering Australian Cattle Dogs, and I LOVEEEEE my new foster Brother, Dodger. He is so well behaved and calm. And he doesn't chase after my tennis balls...yet.
