Arrival Story:
I saw Hobbs at my work one Monday morning. She was thin and had a broken leg. I wasn't able to catch her that day. I told my husband about her that night and he said "You need a Hobby." What fateful words those were. . .
I saw her again the next day and was able to lure her with a leftover bean burrito. I ended up under a truck on my stomach in the rain to get a rope around her neck. When I finally got the rope around her neck she just started licking me like "Okay, I give up." I called animal control and they told me they'd only hold her for 3 days. I asked if they would come get her and take her to the vet for me and they said yes (I was afraid to pick her up due to her broken leg - I wasn't sure how she'd react).
She weighed 26 pounds at that time. Now she's a healthy 36-pound dog. Hobby is perfect. She house-trained herself, fetches, sits, opens gates, etc. Her only drawback is when she's chasing squirrels I cease to exist to her. Maybe some day she'll catch one. . .
