Today was NICE! First, I got to go on TWO walks! I dont know if my humans are slipping and forgetting that they had already taken me on a walk or what. The sun was shining today and my daddy took this really weird loud contraption around the yard - he went ALL OVER the yard. I barked at him, but mommy didn't seem too concerned. Anyway, he and mommy were outside gathering up some stuff from the yard and putting in the big bag, and I could see them through two locations - the front door and the front window. I barked at them and I accidentally peed inside because I was was confused about them being outside, I guess. Ooops. Even though they left me here, tonight my parents went and did a really cool thing. They went and supported a Dachshund Rescue organization called DREAM. They didn't take me because they heard other dogs were invited and they were worried that non-doxies would be there that I would bark at. But, as it turns out, I could have gone to the DREAM thing. Now they are home and we are all so happy to be together again.
One sad thing happened today and I would like your thoughts and/or prayers for my cousin, Middie, who is a corgi and is pictured above. See, he went across that rainbow bridge today. And it was planned. He was just really sick and it would have gotten worse and worse and his mommy and daddy, who are the parents of my daddy, couldn't let him continue to suffer. They are all really sad about it, and so am I, but I know that Middie's hind legs are working now and letting him run all around, and maybe he's found his litter mates and maybe even his mommy. So, it's sad, but he is probably much happier now. I only met him once, last Thanksgiving, and he and I had a good time hanging out together.
One thing I do want to mention is my affinity for flying insects. They are fascinating! They dart around and get so close to me that I know I can probably catch one. 'cept I never have - yet. I will. 'specially those dang carpenter bees. My mommy and daddy don't want me to be bitten but they still find it kind of funny to watch because it holds my attention as much as fetching my burger!
My mommy had some other women over the other night for book club. I assumed they were here to see me, and guess what? I was right. They loved me and played fetch with me. I even took a nap on one of the ladies. She was really nice and kept throwing my burger for me.
Well, my humans are drifting toward the tv which means good cuddling time for me! And a few rounds of burger fetch!
