Becky's Endless Quest to be a Good Dog

A New Friend!

I'm very proud of Becky...on Saturday she made a new friend. This is a big step for Becky...since she starting being funny with other dogs she hasn't had much chance to meet new doggies. One of the girls at my work has a really great dog named Bella, and Becky had met her a few times through her kennel bars. The first time she barked...but this weekend she was good. So I let them sniff and then took Becky out on a leash. We walked around the clinic for a bit and the did some bum sniffing and all was good. Becky tried a couple of times to snap at her face (for some reason that's what she does now) and I told her no! and made her down. Then Bella asked to play...it took Becky a bit but finally she play bowed back to Bella and then they were off! They played really hard for probably 15 minutes and it was great! Yay for new friends!

Gotta Keep Trying!

Today Becky's best friend Barkley is coming over to visit! It will be fun for her because she doesn't get to play with many other dogs :( Becky used to be a very good dog with other dogs, from about 6 months (when I got her) to a bout a year and a half, she was the nicest dog with other dogs ever! But then for some reason that I still don't know, she became very suspicious and over rude with other dogs. One day she attacked a dog in the park that wasn't doing ANYTHING to her, and even though she didn't hurt it, we were very upset. We decided that because she lived in the city and would never be allowed off leash, it would be best for her to live somewhere else. Well, we ended up finding a new dog trainer to help us and I'm so glad because the thought of living without Becky is just too much. She may be a bad dog, but we love her! She's very smart and loves to learn, but walking her past other dogs is a NIGHTMARE. She lunges and barks at them and even though she may just be wanting to play, it sounds terrible. Soooo we are trying really hard to work on this and someday she WILL be a good dog!
