Arrival Story:
Back in the early summer, i was asked to foster him and another hound. Devon was scared to death of anyone, especially men. He was pulled from a shelter covered in his own waste and traveled to me for temporary foster. As the days went by, he learned to trust me and finally started to come up for some petting. About two weeks into him living here, he learned to wooooo at me and then more and more, he has learned that it is ok if he barks or arooooo's at me. We adopted him on october 1, 2005

Devon is terrified of strangers. He has been badly abused but has learned to trust me, his mom and most of the time, his new dad slave. He loves his playmate Lucy and protects here when necessary. He loves me more than anything now and has even on one occassion thought he was protected me. He now knows what love and devotion is. DEVON WAS DIAGNOSED WITH LYMPHOMA ABOUT A MONTH AGO. I SENT HIM TO THE BRIDGE LAST SUNDAY. He is very much missed. He was my heart and sidekick everywhere.

The Good Life

Sending Mom someone to help her heal

Hi folks. I am over the rainbow bridge. I am with Sally Sue now keeping her company and we are happily romping in the fields enjoying good snacks.
Sally Sue and i left mom very sad recently and then Rose, mom's horse left her too. Mom has been very sad and has cried alot of tears lately. But i sent Woody to keep mom company and to snuggle with her at night and follow her around like i used to. The only difference is that while i didnt like too many people, Woody does and that gives mom the opportunity to get out and about with her new side kick to enjoy the company of other basset lovers.
I will check in from time to time to keep mom up to date on things at the bridge.
Enjoying life, Devon

Devon and lymphoma

About month ago, i was diagnosed with lymphoma right after Sally Sue went to the bridge.
I was put on prednisone and did well for about 3 weeks. Then i quit eating again and mom boiled me some chicken gizzards and livers. I sure loved my new food but even with eating such good food, i started bleeding internally up high and started having bloody poo. Old blood which is how my mom figured out i was bleeding inside.
My gums got pale and i was week. Mom and i decided it was time for me to leave for the bridge.
Mom is heartbroken but i am running free with the other hounds up here at the bridge.
Hang in their mom. I love you.

Since i have been sick, mommy has been spoiling me rotten.
I am finiky right now about eating so mommy buys meat products to fix for me so i will eat when i wont eat my dry dog food.
Tonight, mommy brought home some chicken gizzards to boil for me. MMMMM, good too.
Dont be too jealous about all this. YOu see, i didnt get this until i got sick and you dont want that so enjoy your time with your slaves. Time can be short sometimes.
Love ya, Devon
