Arrival Story:
When we saw Marika's health deteriorate rapidly from her life long battle with HD, we started looking for the dog that would become our next family guardian. Gypsy came to us from the same breeder that gave us Marika ten years ago. We quickly discovered that Gypsy's personality is completely opposite of Marika's. Marika is a loner that picks her times to be loved. Gypsy wants to be loved at all times. Gypsy loves toys of any type. She quickly becomes bored with one toy and pulls another and then another out of the toy box. She watches her three siblings closely and learns after seeing something only once. When Marika patrols, Gypsy follows at a safe distance. Right now, Gypsy is a sponge that soaks up everything she sees...good or bad. The breeder told us that after Marika is gone, Gypsy will take up the position of family gardian but for right now, she is happy to be the goofy student.

Bio:
At 7 months of age, Gypsy was diagnosed with degenerative encephalomyelopathy. This is causing her to gradually lose control of her back legs. We live day by day now, since the doctors all say this is extremely rare and cannot tell us how fast this will progress. We are treating her with alternative medicines after modern medicine ran out of options for her. Update--Gypsy celebrated her 1st birthday on May 27th. We never thought she would make it this far. Every day she is with us we feel blessed. Her ability to walk is greatly diminished so she scoots as much as she walks. We also think her vision is reduced--possibly her depth perception. She will run into things or turn her head into somthing that she should be able to see. However, she is still a happy girl so we will give her the best life possible until her disease extinguishes that mischievous spark in her eyes. Update--Today, August 12th, we let Gypsy go to the Rainbow Bridge to run with her sister Marika. Her condition deteriorated to the point that we could not keep her happy. She only lived 14 months but she brought great joy to our lives. Your mommies love and miss you very much Ku-baby.
