Life has been really crazy this year. Mom's dad got real sick and passed away, then when she finally got home from too many weeks away, Seth started acting up and mom took him out of school. Now the room where we USED to eat dinner is the room where she teaches school. I really thought school would be fun since Seth would be home all day to play with ME, but no such luck. Mom writes on the board and Seth writes on the papers and they don't have ANY time for me during the day now. Really, it's not too bad. Dad still sleeps all day, so I've taken to napping all day with him and not coming out until school is over and it's time to play.
Mom started watching a horrible show called "The Dog Whisperer". Ever heard of it? She decided I needed some....*gasp*.....DISCIPLINE. I really tried to object and do my own thing anyway, but she gets that "mommy" look in her eyes and makes this weird sound that just makes me stop in my tracks. Now mom has RULES and I have to follow them. Talk about a total stinker to the princess routine. I can't even jump on MY bed without mom giving me permission, and I'm never allowed to jump on mom, even if I'm so excited I can't stand it, until she tells me I can. She's even teaching Seth that discipline stuff, so I can't run up and steal toys out of his hand anymore. I have to sit nice and wait for him to THROW me the toy. What fun is it if I can't surprise attack him?
Dad's still a sucker for my brown eyes, though. In the mornings I wait for mom to leave the room, then I jump on the bed, burrow into the quilt and snuggle up to dad all day. I ALWAYS jump on him when he comes through the door, too. He usually forgets that I'm not supposed to do that anymore and pets me, so I KNOW he likes the Lula attack in the mornings.
The good news is, mom's not making me clothes too much anymore! She still sews something new here and there, but not the new stuff every day or two. Now she's got a company that orders her purses that she spends most of her free time on. They also want her to start making teeny tophats and big hats, so she'll be even MORE busy with even LESS time for Lula clothes. Don't get me wrong, when it's cold out I do my super pitiful shiver thing until mom puts a warm shirt or sweater on me, but all the extra stuff is just annoying. I DO look pretty hot in my triple strand of pearls, though.
Mom says I have to stop so she can teach Seth, so I guess it's back to bed with dad for me. Lotsa licks to all my friends........even the one's I haven't met yet!

First, thanks to everyone for the great birthday wishes! I had a pretty boring birthday this year, and your messages really brightened my day!
Mom was gone most of the summer so I was bored, bored, bored. Her daddy got sick and she had to go to Texas to be with him and I got stuck at home with dad. Dad's alright, but I had to spend a lot of time alone with the kitties while he was working.
Speaking of kitties, mom brought home ANOTHER one! I was really jealous of him at first, but he's a pretty cool little guy. He lets me bathe him and when I get in the mood to interrupt my napping, he's always willing to play with me. I really like it when we take naps together. Mom says I'm going to squish him laying my head on top of him, but I don't hear HIM complaining.
Sylvester still doesn't like me, but that's okay. I really don't like him much, either. Every time I walk near him he growls and hisses, so I walk up to him a lot just to get his fur up. Harassing him is one of my favorite games.
Mom took Sylvester & me to get fixed this spring. Talk about a BAD trip to the vet's office! I went in expecting a nail trim and yummy treats, and came out feeling like pooh! We both got better and back to ourselves real quick, but mom says we're getting fat now! Fat? I am NOT fat! I'm pleasantly plump. More Lula to love on sized, even.
Well, I'd better close for today! I've missed all of my Dogster pals and hope mom's serious about keeping up with everyone again!
Love & licks,
LulaBelle

I can't wait! Last year I ate all of his cookies and he STILL filled my stocking. I got into a LOT of mischief last year, too, and still didn't make the naughty list, so I'm expecting a big haul this year since I've turned into a docile couch potato.......well, until Sylvester comes around hissing. Can you believe he actually ate food out of MY bowl yesterday? I can't eat ANY of his kitty kibble, but he gets to eat MY food? It ain't right, I tell ya!
That's okay, though. I've come up with a plan that can't fail. I'm gonna sleep with one eye open on Christmas Eve and after Santa fills my stocking and puts my presents under the tree I'm gonna sneak that mean ole kitty into his sack on his way back up the chimney! I figure I won't have to share mom with him anymore and I'll still have PLENTY of time to get back on the nice list before Christmas next year. Just don't tell Santa what I'm plotting because I've worked too hard all year to wind up on the naughty list at the last minute.
Mom's nurse came yesterday (I love that lady because she always stops to give me loving right when she comes through the door.) and she said that mom's healing really well and should be back to herself real soon. I sure hope so. Mom says she's got something called "cabin fever". I'm not sure what it is, but I hope it's not catching. She's grumpy a lot and complaining about walls closing in and stuff. I've been looking around and the walls don't look like they've moved any to me. She says that as soon as she can she's going to paint all of the ugly walls, too, because she's sick of looking at them. I told her that all she has to do is close her eyes and nap like I do when she's tired of the walls, but she ain't falling for that.
I'm just glad that she won't be hogging up my couch for much longer! Sometimes it's hard to be nice and get up every time she comes over to claim the couch. I don't see her getting up and letting me have the couch whenever I want it. You know, when a gal's snoring hard and her tongue's as hard as leather from dangling outta her slack mouth, NO ONE should wake up her just to move farther down the couch. I don't understand why SHE gets to have the best cushion on the couch whenever she wants it. And the worst part is when she says, "Thanks for keeping my spot warm for me." HER spot? It WAS MY spot until she decided to park her tushy on it.
Wow! I'm starting to sound as grumpy as mom! That cabin fever just might be catching! Maybe I need to go claim the couch before mom starts thinking it looks good. I swear it's getting to where a girl can't get a nap these days. I only nap for 3 or 4 hours a stretch! Is it too much to ask that I be left undisturbed until I'm done? I think I'm going to pmail Santa real quick and ask him for a new couch for mom so she'll leave mine alone! I wonder if that would work!
Okay, I'm off to claim the good cushion! Y'all have a great day and try your best to stay on the nice list until the prezzies get here!!
Lotsa licks,
LulaBelle
