Arrival Story:
I saw a sign for free puppies and called. I had just purchased a home so I drove out to see at least 14 dogs living in a barn and covered in mud. They were 9 weeks old (10-13 pounds) and I wasn't sure I wanted a big dog, then this little black fur ball (1 pound) covered in mud darted out of the barn, stopped, looked me right in the eye and turned around and ran back in. I told the owner I wanted to hold her and I don't think I put her down for two days. (My cousin worried she would never walk again!) I found out she was the (obvious) runt and the other dogs really pushed her around. She had what the vet referred to as "trauma" marks on her belly (they were deep scratches). The day I took her home I held her close and I told her she would never be hurt again. She couldn't believe she had her very own food and water and it took her a while to realize she didn't have to sneak up to the bowls, they were hers, just hers! The vet told me he didn't know how much longer she would have made it if we hadn't found each other. That was 10 months ago and she has grown like a weed. The trauma marks have healed nicely and are barely noticable. She is a happy girl and she brings much joy to my life and anyone who meets her.

Bio:
Today is Sadie's second birthday and she is thriving and going strong. I am so thankful for that day in the barn and that my little ball of fur came out to take a look. Sadie will be 5 years old in a few weeks and she is still the sweeter than suger! She follows me everywhere. She is trying to be more careful with brother Beau since he is having back problems. She lets him go outside first instead of racing like they used to.

Forums Motto:
Gimme the bone and rub my belly!
