Arrival Story: We had discussed getting a dog. One night on the way home from dinner, we passed a sign for "American Bulldog Puppies." My husband suggested we stop and look. I explained that puppies were not dogs, and you don't just "look" at puppies. He marched up and knocked on the door. I stood firm on the walk. No one came to the door, so I started to walk away. He knocked again. This time, a man answered. Soon we were surrounded by several four-week old puppies. When I sat down, the dog's mother came over and licked me on the face. Just like that. The half-frolicsome, half-sleepy were all over the floor. One was under a swivel chair. I motioned to my husband to grab that one, lest he get squished. "That's Knuckles," the mom (of the children) said. My husband turned to me with the tiny pup. They each looked at me with the same question, "Can I keep him?"

Today was a pretty slow day. The thumbs (I says that with great affection!) went to work, though Dad was a bit slow getting up. That always works out for me, because I can stay in bed longer.
