I adopted Sasha 3/11 from a breeder/rescue in La Cygne Kansas. When I picked her up at SFO, she burrowed into my arms, gave me lots of kisses and was a perfect lady on leash. On the 20 minute ride from the airport to my house, she lay on her back in the front seat, chewing my thumb. Sasha is so happy she bounces instead of walking. Bio: Sasha is a Decker Giant Rat Terrier. Our Vet thinks she may top out at 35-40 pounds. As of June 2004, she measured 19 inches tall! Update: November 2004: Sasha is 21 inches tall and 45lbs and has killed her first wild boar. Decker Giant Rat Terriers are prized in the southern U.S. for their hunting abilites.
When Sasha turned two years old, she decided she didn't like our cat or my older rat terrier, Nellis. We have kept them separated for almost 4 years now. We have decided to try and find a loving home for Sasha. She's a beautiful girl---she just needs to be an ONLY pet...no furry siblings! When he tried to escape over the six foot fence, he dislocated his shoulder. Sasha kept him "frozen" in place until the police arrived. She never bit him, but certainly was LOUD in protecting the house and property. Good dog!
